Skylar's POV

I growled deeply beneath the large grey wolf. His claws sunk into my sides, making it hard for me to breath as his sheer size pummeled me further into the ground. I twisted my head over my shoulder, clamping my sharp teeth onto his fur and shaking my head as hard as I could. Instantly the metallic taste of blood flowed into my mouth, but I held on.

I shook him as roughly as I could, trying I get him off.

But still he stood strong, holding me down and pushing me harder into submission as leaves and dirt started to coat my once white fur.

I let out a pitiful squeak and bit down with all my might, ripping through more fur and skin. For a moment the other wolf growled in pain, letting loose his hold on me.

Those few seconds were all I needed to flip my body and get out from underneath him. As soon as I had the large wolf off of my back I surveyed my attackers.

Standing before me were the three wolfs I had been tracking. Each of them were huge, but the grey wolf was the biggest of them all. He held his head high, a sign of power.

He must be the Alpha of the Rouges, I thought to myself, my icy blue eyes narrowing in on him.

I could tell the three wolves were communicating through their pack link. Each of them had their eyes trained on me, hunger in their gaze.

I then stood up to my full height, stretching my body even though the new cuts I had just received to my flank burned like fire.

Being of Alpha blood, I was naturally a large wolf. Even as a female I was bigger than most, and with my size came power, but these wolves easily matched me.

Not letting them know that I was affected by them, I glared at each.

"You have a minute to get out of my territory before my pack kills all of you." I spat to the rouges.

The grey wolf took a step forward, his fur bristling at my command, yet his eyes amused, almost like he was making fun of me.

I growled as he took another step forward. It was my warning to him I wolud not allow him to come any closer. His ears flew back at my threat.

"You should run while you still have a chance!" Laughed the grey wolf, his eyes mocking me.

My dirty fur bristled even more and I growled fiercely at him and his two followers who were slowly creeping out from behind him.

"I will never run! I am not a coward and this is my land!" I snapped at the wolf. My muscles tightened as I watched the other rouges creep closer to me, ready to pounce on the grey wolf's orders.

"Have it your way. Die an honorable death, my Alpha won't let any of your pack mates live anyway." Spoke the grey wolf, and I was a bit taken aback by his words.

If the grey wolf wasn't the Alpha, and he was this big, I could only imagine what the real Alpha was like.

Just the thought gave me chills.

With a sudden snarl the rouge to my right lunged at me. Seeing him out of the corner of my eye I twisted backwards, just barely grazing him as I heard his teeth snap down on thin air.

I whirled around to have another wolf lunge for my muzzle, swiping down at my face. I stumbled back blindly for a moment, relying on my hearing to protect myself as a rouge suddenly collided with my shoulder, sending me off my feet.

I growled in annoyance as I quickly picked myself up, the blood pounding in my head. These rouges were toying with me, and I knew it. I also knew that I could take at least one of them out, maybe two if I was lucky, so pinpointing the smallest rouge I lunged, switching to the offensive side.

I took the wolf completely by surprise. His brown eyes widened in fear for a split second as I tackled him to the forest floor.

My jaws instantly latched onto his jugular and I shook my head back and fourth, proving to the rouges I could put up a fight. He gave a low whine, his paws scraping against my sides as he tried to get away.

I knew if I held on any longer he would die. I could practically see the life draining from his eyes. I've never liked killing. It wasn't something that I did constantly, but if it was to protect myself or my pack I would do it in a heartbeat.

Suddenly a sharp pain exploded over my shoulder as the grey wolf grabbed me with his teeth.

I growled in anger as I let go of the other rouge to face the grey wolf. The littler rouge laid still, the only sign of life was the slight rise and fall of his chest as he tried to catch his breath.

Luckily for him werewolves heal fast when we are in our wolf form. So all I really did was injure him.

I then turned my full attention onto the grey wolf who was bitting deeper and deeper into my back as he nearly picked me off my paws.

I snarled, twisting around and trying to snap at him as I felt my hot blood spilling down my back.

He growled back as one of my paws caught his eye, but instead of letting go he shook his head, which in turn shook my body and opened up my wounds even more.

I drew in a raspy breath as my attempts to detach myself from his jaws failed. My movements became sloppy as I felt my heart pound in my chest harder and harder from my lack of blood.

I looked around, my vision focusing in and out as I saw my crimson blood coating the leaves and dirt beneath me.

I gritted my teeth in pain, letting out a loud howl for help, my last resort. A growl from the grey wolf cut me off. Anger burned through me as I struggled once more.

Then suddenly, out of nowhere a third body slammed into the grey wolf and I; completely taking us by surprise. I let out a squeak in part pain and part happiness as the grey wolf let go of me.

Instantly I crashed into the ground, the force with which we were hit knocked the air from my lungs as I rolled into the base of a tree.

I felt my body twitch as the pain started to take over all my senses. I closed my eyes, tasting the blood in my mouth from the fight.

Then all of a sudden one of the loudest and possibly the darkest growl I've ever heard made my eyes fly right back open.

There, towering over the grey wolf was the largest and first fully black wolf I'd ever seen.

His fur rippled over visible muscles as his large head dipped down towards the now unmoving grey wolf. He sniffed the body once and growled low in his chest, his mouth opening to expose long, sharp k-9s.

I let out a whine of fear and pain. From the look of this rouge, I knew my end was coming.

Due to the sound I made, the black wolf's head snapped towards me. His crystal blue eyes landed on my battered form beneath the tree, and in the moment our eyes met I felt an intense heat rush through my body from head to tail.

Recognition flashed through the black wolf's eyes and he bolted from his stance, rushing to my side.

Suddenly I could once more smell the intoxicating scent of my mate. The husky smell washed over me, comforting some of the pain that was taking over my body as I closed my eyes and let the darkness take me.
