Xavier's POV
When I had first heard the pitiful howl of my mate, something deep down in my chest had twisted in pain. It shocked me to the core, and it was almost as if I could feel her pain.
Instantly I picked up my pace, the few rouges I had at my back following as we sped through the forest.
My breaths became ragged as I felt another shock hit my heart. Someone was hurting my mate! My mate!
Mate! Mate! Mate!
Screamed my wolf in my head as we neared her. Her wonderful and mouthwatering scent overflowed and within the next second I came across what was unmistakable as a fight.
My beta, Tyler, stood with the most beautiful she-wolf I've ever seen, clamped in his jaws. Instantly I knew that she was alone, fighting against my rouges, but I also knew she wasn't just some normal wolf..... No, she was my mate.
Once more my inner wolf took over, making me giddy as I finally set my eyes on her, but in the next moment my entire mood changed. My wolf realized that the wolf holding my mate was my Beta, yet at the same time, I felt my body growing stiff.
What was he doing touching my mate!? My mate not his! When another whine came from my now shaking mate who struggled against my Beta's grip, I felt the powerful flash of blinding anger rush through my body, pumping adrenaline through my veins.
In that moment I forgot who Tyler was. That he was one of my most trusted, that he was my Beta. All I could think was that he was hurting my mate, and at the same time hurting me.
In that moment I lost control. My body sprang forward on it's own accord, the feeling of unbearable rage and power fueling my actions as I threw myself against Tyler.
My wolf went crazy, Tyler had been hurting my mate, and now he was going to pay!
As soon as Tyler dropped my mate I full on attacked him.
At first he fought back, but as soon as he recognized it was me, he became submissive, bowing his head and backing off as he crawled onto his belly, showing me the soft underside of his stomach in a sign of submission, but that's not what I wanted.
I didn't want him to surrender, I wanted him to pay for making my mate feel pain, all I could see was red, so while he laid belly up before me I attacked him, my large jaws snapping down onto his muscular form as I practically ripped him apart.
Red seemed to coat my vision, and I forgot everything but revenge. When Tyler finally laid still, I stopped my attack. His blood spilled onto the forest floor, and I wasn't sure if he was alive.
My black fur bristled, standing on end as I caught my breath from my attack. As the haze of my rage disappeared, I realized that my rouge pack mates were looking at me in fear and horror. It was a look I was used to getting. I always had to insure fear in my followers, otherwise they would rebel and not listen, but the look of pure shock made me stop baring my fangs.
I had just taken out Tyler, my beta, and now the rest of my pack mates were afraid I would come after them. Before I could say something to the rouges to either calm them or put them in their place, I wasn't sure which one yet, a soft and sweet sounding whimper came from a little white heap on the ground.
Instantly my head snapped that way, my ears flicking at the familiar sound of my mates voice.... Well whimper.
Her eyes were the brightest shade of blue I'd ever seen, and the same look of fear and pain ran through her eyes just as it had of my rouge followers, but for some reason I didn't like that.
I didn't want my mate to fear me.... not my mate.
My body shook with energy as a million emotions ran trough me, but the biggest was urging me to go to her side so I could comfort her.
When I took my first step towards her she gave a harsh jerk, her eyes rolling back into her head as she Lost consciousness.
Instantly I was by her side, nudging her sweet smelling fur, but to no avail. She was out from the loss of blood, and I knew if I didn't do something soon, she would meet the same fate as my now dead Beta.
I looked up to my rouges, snapping at them to find the rest of the pack and tell them the attack was off. Then I requested for them to help me in moving my mate. A few males stepped up to help me grab her, but I growled at them, making them take a step back. No way was any other male going to get near my mate.
She was Mine!
I snapped at the two females in the group, signaling them with my tail for their help. They rushed forward to do my bidding, the sight of their dead beta still in the corner of their eyes.
No one asked questions, they were all too afraid of me, but that was expected.
As they lightly grabbed my mate by her scruff, carful not to hurt her too much, they started dragging her back towards the border.
The rest of my rouges were now running towards me through the forest, their silent bodies moving through the shadows, just as I had taught them.
"Sir why did you call off the attack?" Asked a brave rouge, stepping forward, but keeping his head low, afraid of my wrath.
"I have found my mate, and as of now, I have lost my beta." Murmurs went through the pack at my words, and all of their eyes went to Tyler's dead form lying in the ground.
"I will explain later, but for now we are to leave this territory, before the Shadow Creek Pack comes looking for their pack mate." I say.
"I'm sure they heard our battle cries, so we need to leave now, while we still can."
Growls of disapproval went up through the rouges, but one harsh bark from me shut them all up.
I stood taller, raising my head and glaring at them to remind them of their rank as I turning back towards the boarder.
"Come now. We are leaving, but don't fear, we will be back another day to finish the job." I said, a devious smile spreading over my wolf's face as I led my pack of rouges through the forest to the Shadow Creek's border.
I knew most of my pack was unhappy with my decision, but I also knew they would never go against me.
As we ran out of our enemies's territory, my thoughts quickly switched over to my mate. Currently a few of the females in my pack were taking her back to our pack house, and I couldn't help but smile at the thought of finally having my mate by my side. After searching and searching for her, I finally had her in my grasp, and I wasn't ever going to let go.
