"Get the shock cart!" Dr. Mars shouted, just as Dr. Hart had the night before. Do my surprise, Dr. Mars wasn't a man at all... She was a short, snappy woman of color who was very good at her job. "Charge to two hundred."

I watched in horror as I almost lost my girlfriend, the love of my life.

"Come on, Kendall," Dr. Mars murmered after a third attempt. "Charge to three hundred!"

"Charging to three hundred"

The long, continuous beep that had rung in my ear twice before stopped, picking up a rythmic beat once again. I let out the breath I had been holding and looked over to see her unconsious, probably not going to wake up for another hour.

"Thank the lord," Dr. Mars sighed in relief and handed the nurse the paddles back, and came over to me.

"Are you her boyfriend?"

"Y-yes ma'm." I replied. Even though she was tiny, she was intimidating.

"She's going to pull through. I know she will." She helped me up and I thanked her. "You need to hope for the best but expect the worst."

I smiled at her reference to the band and nodded.

"What's your name?"

"Zayn," I gulped. She didn't know me? Surely she had a daughter or something.

"Nice to meet you, Zayn, I'm Bailey," She offered her hand and shook it.

"What's going to happen?" I rasped.

"She's going to wake up, be a little uncomfotable and out of it, then has her chemo tomorrow, Monday, then again on Thursday, and then again on Monday, then next Thursday, then hopefully she'll be able to go back to her hotel or wherever she's staying." Bailey said calmly.

"When will this all be over?" I asked.

"I don't know, Zayn, I don't know."
