On the second Saturday of Kendall's stay in the hospital, the doctors decided she was well enough to be moved out of the ICU and into a different room. This one there could be as many visitors as you wanted, since it was private.

By Wednesday, they said she'd be discharged after chemo on Thursday. She was happy, giddy almost.

However, Kendall had dark circles under her eyes, showing just how tired she was. I knew she couldn't sleep well in these hospital beds, but, once she sat down in that comfy recliner for her treatment, her eyes shut and the snoring began. We all laughed and everyone went home but Liam and I, everybody having realized that they, themselves, could use some sleep.

When she woke up four hours later at two, she still had an hour left.

"Hi," She smiled when she saw me.

"Hi," I replied, still smiling.

"Hi, Liam," She looked over at him.

"Good morning, sunshine," Liam replied.

"What time is it?" Kendall asked sleepily.

"Two," I said.

"Only an hour until I'm out of here," She rolled her eyes.

"Thank goodness," Liam said. "I hate seeing you like this, so unhappy just do to the place."

"Yeah, I hate being like this," Kendall frowned.

"Well, you'll be back at the hotel soon enough," I reached out to hold her hand.

"Yeah," She said before falling back asleep.

Liam chuckled. "Leave it to Kendall to sleep so much."

I laughed.

An hour later, a nurse came to undo her IV and wake her up.

"Kendall, wake up, honey," She whispered.

Kendall didn't make any motion to wake up. My heart skipped a beat. No, not again...

"Kendall, wake up!"

She sat up immediatley, sputtering and gasping for air.

"Shh, you're safe. It's just me, sweetie." The nurse rubbed her back and Kendall began to relax. "You're free to go."

"T-thank you," She stuttered.

I held out my hand and helped her up.

She stumbled a bit, her feet not used to walking, her having been transported in a weelchair for the past few weeks.

"Here," I picked her up, bridal style, and carried her to the car, set her down in the back seat, and went up to the passenger side.

Liam drove, not saying anything.

I was anxious to get back to the hotel, having not been there in so long.

We got there, and I carried Kendall up to her room.

She was so much lighter than she used to be.

I set her down on the bed, and she thanked me.

"So... How are you?" I asked.

"Fine," She shrugged.

"When we got back from Ellen, were you feeling ill?" I blurted. This is the question that had been on my mind throughout the entire time she was in the hospital.

"I... I'd been coughing up blood since before the show started," Kendall said.

"What?" I sputtered.

"About an hour or so before..." She trailed off.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I gasped.

"I didn't want to ruin the show. I mean, I ruin everything, don't I?" Kendall looked away.

"No! No of course not! You've never ruined anything for me, ever! I love you Kendall, I love you so, so much!" I held her face in my hands and kissed her.

"I love you too," She laughed in my ear.

"I'm scared, Kendall," I whispered.

"For what?"

"That you won't wake up next time"
