The next day, Leprii rummaged through the duffel bag for clothes to wear. She found many different items, but settled on jeans, a black tank top, and a black and white flannel.
She also now had a better understanding of who each boy was and what their powers were, which she learned during breakfast.
Lance, the TV boy, was able to create seismic waves from his hands. She witnessed this after he shook the entire house to get another to drop something. Pietro had superspeed, which he used to steal whatever it was from Lance’s hand. Fred, the overweight one, had super strength among other things. He knocked Pietro down when he was running away from Lance. The sickly-looking one, Todd, had the abilities of a toad, which explained his appearance. Leprii saw his disgusting tongue when he used it to grab whatever it was out of Pietro’s hands.
Leprii looked down at her schedule in confusion. She was sent to the local high school with the rest of the boys, but she hadn’t been in a school setting since she was very little. The paper in her hand seemed to be in a different language. It didn’t help that the hallways were almost empty of people.
“Do you, like, need help with something?” someone asked her as Leprii jumped at the sudden noise.
Leprii turned around and saw a short brown-haired girl looking at her.
“Umm, y-yeah, I think I could use some help with this.” Leprii showed her the piece of paper.
“You can, like, follow me. We’ve got first period together. By the way, my name is Kitty,” she said as they started to walk.
“Leprii,” she replied.
“Ooh, that’s, like, a pretty name.”
“Thanks.” The two girls continued to walk in silence until they reached the classroom.
“Well, here we are,” Kitty announced.
They walked into the noisy classroom, and Leprii raised her hands to cover her ears.
“Are, like, you okay?”
“I’m fine. I just have… uh… sensitive hearing. I’m not really used to hearing this many voices at once.”
Kitty dismissed it as if it never happened and brought Leprii to the teachers desk. “Uhh, Mr. McCoy, we, like, have a new student.” With that, Kitty walked over to her seat.
The teacher, Mr. McCoy, looked up from his desk and smiled at Leprii. “Hello, I’m Mr. McCoy, your Chemistry teacher. Welcome to Bayville. What’s your name?”
“Leprii Kolete.”
“Well, Miss Kolete, since you seem to know Miss Pryde, you can sit next to her for the time being.”
“Thank you.” Leprii moved from the desk and walked over to the empty seat next to Kitty, who was already engaged in an argument with the boy next to her.
“Kurt, like, give me back my book! I need it.” She told him.
“What for Kitty?” he questioned. “It doesn’t look like a school book to me!”
“KURT!”
“Ugh, fine Kitty. But next time answer me if I ask you something.” The boy, Kurt, threw the book at her.
Kitty stuck her tongue out at him and muttered, “Whatever” under her breath. She turned around and jumped when she saw Leprii looking at her.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. I was just watching the conversation,” she quickly apologized.
“It’s okay. Kurt was, like, just being his normal self.”
“Is he your brother?” Leprii asked.
“No, we’re just friends,” Kitty paused, putting the book away. She turned back to Leprii. “So, like, where did you live before moving to Bayville?”
Thankfully, Leprii was saved from that question when class started.
