Chapter 17

When the darkness creeped into Liam's room he knew that he had survived this day. Now he just had to go to Scott's house to figure some more things out and then...do it all over again...

Liam had never wanted to just take a break from everyone and anything more. A part of him wanted to go far away but the other part knew that he can't.

Theo was going to pick him up. Liam had no idea why Theo was so enthusiastic about picking him up, but he didnt mind. He even wanted to spend time with Theo and maybe even talk to him, but at the same time he was still afraid. 'What if he figures out about the way I feel about him ?'- this thought never left him alone. Liam was afraid of making a fool out of himself.

It was 00:21 as Liam heard Theo's car pulling over. Liam went outside and got into his car, while trying to hide his cold, sweaty hands and his abnormally fast heart beat. He tried to take deep breaths, but nothing could stop his nervousness.

He said a simple 'Hey!'. Right after that he started worrying that his 'hey' didn't sound right. Liam was overthinking once again and didn't hear a thing out of Theo's mouth. He was worried about his 'hey' sounding way too fake or too intrusive, or in the worst case scenario way too obvious.

'What if he will never talk to me ?' Liam found out a 'new worst case scenario' and repeated it in his mind all over again. Liam felt completely isolated. It was just him and his thoughts, nothing else.

'Liam! What's happening to you ? Are you even here, in this car ?' Theo was asking him now loudly, since the first three times Liam didn't hear a word and just kept staring out of the window, trying not to make an eye contact with him, while drowning in his own thoughts. For a moment Theo was more than sure that Liam is igoring him.

'Uhh...I'm fine, what did you say ? I sort of zoned out.' Liam tried to act as casual as he possibly could, but the shakiness still escaped his voice and he sounded just as nervous as he was, if not even much more.

'You don't seem fine.' Theo said bluntly and stopped the car. Theo didn't mean to be harsh on Liam, but he needed to know what's bothering him so much, but more than anything he didn't want him to find out about his feelings or whatever else he felt for him, so he ended up being really harsh on him almost every time they talked.

Theo regretted many things that he had said, but there was nothing he could do about it. At least not anymore.

Theo still tried his best to numb out of his feelings, especially now, when he's in the same car with Liam and they are just a few centimetres away from each other.

He knew that there is something going on with Liam and he wanted to help him no matter what. At this point Theo was even a little worried about him.

For once Theo wanted to be there for someone. He wanted to be there for someone he actually cares about. He wanted to be there for Liam.

'I can help his just as a friend. Just as a casual friend' Theo took a deep breathe before asking him anything.

After all friends are there for each other all the time.
