Shane walked into the house and into the living room. Ms. Kendric was sitting there talking to someone that looked an awful lot like the man that had just come up to her.
"Shane?" Laura's voice reached Shane's ears, but she ignored it and walked up the spiral staircase, and into her room, locking the door. She put her favorite Fall Out Boy CD into her boom box and turned up the volume. She hated it here. There were a total of ten kids there, including herself, and only one she could tolerate. Laura's son. He was like a brother to her, while the rest of the kids were nothing but thorns in her side.
She let the words of the familiar tune "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" drown out the painful memories brought up by the people here. She didn't want to talk about her familial loss. She didn't want to talk about it with anyone. Not now, not ever again.

Sam walked back into the living room to see Dean talking to Laura. Laura was smiling, but had a wet tissue in her hand. Dean turned to Sam and gave him a quizzical look. Laura caught up on the cue and turned to see Sam.
"I take it didn't go too well with Shane, did it?" Ms. Kendric asked, worry staining her face.
"Not exactly. She didn't really say anything to me."
"Typical," Ms. Kendric rolled her eyes. "She doesn't talk to anyone really. I guess I was just hoping she'd open up eventually."
"Mom?" A teenage boy, with shaggy brown hair popped his head around the corner.
"Jackson, hey," she motioned for the boy to come over by her. "This is my son, Jackson. Jackson these FBI agents are here to talk to Shane."
"Yeah, I heard. Sorry I didn't come introduce myself. I was taking care of the twins." He reached out and shook Sam and Dean's hands.
"Laura, do you mind if we talk to your son? Alone?" Laura shot Jackson an inquisitive look.
"It's ok, mom." Jackson smiled at his mom as she nodded and left the room.
"So Jackson-" Dean began, "Do you and Shane talk much?" Dean asked, looking the boy up and down.
"If you can call it talking. Shane's really quiet, but she and I do some things together."
"Like what?" Sam asked.
"She draws a lot. She's been teaching me- well, showing me- how to draw somethings. And we listen to a lot of music together." Jackson chuckled, "I got her totally obsessed with Fall Out Boy. She loves it."
"What kind of stuff does she draw? I noticed she draws big dogs?"
"Yeah. Hell hounds, i guess."
Dean and Sam exchanged confused glances. "Hell hounds?" Dean asked, "And how do you know she calls them that?"
"She showed them to me. Shane's really into mythology. I kinda was, but she got me really interested in it. Especially loves creatures."
"Does she have a favorite?" Sam asked smiling.
"Same thing she draws all the time. As for your other question," Jackson motioned towards Dean, "She told me. She doesn't talk a lot, and she doesn't talk to a lot of people, but she talks to me sometimes."
"Did she ever tell you what happened to her parents?" Sam inquired, "Did she describe it at all?"
Jackson shook his head. "About two years after she came here, I asked her about it. Shane said she didn't want to talk about it, " he paused and looked around him as if he were searching for words in the air around him, "something about she didn't want me to think she was crazy."
"Any chance you could get her to talk to us?" Dean asked.
"I don't know," Jackson looked nervous, "I don't know if she'll really listen to me, but..." He looked up at Sam and Dean, "You guys really think it'll help?"
"Yeah," Sam nodded, "we do."
Jackson nodded. "I'll give it a shot."
"Thanks, Jackson. We'd really appreciate it." Sam smiled, looking excitedly at Dean.
"You're going to have to give me some time though, I mean, she won't be easy to convince."
"Here," Dean pulled out a pen and notepad, "call us when you think she's ready to talk."
"If you can," Sam started, "try to get her to open up quickly. We, sadly, don't have a lot of time."
Jackson nodded. "I'll try."
"Thanks, Buddy." Dean and Sam stood up and shook his hand. They walked out the door and climbed into the impala.
