When Shane opened her eyes, she had no idea where she was. Everything was dark. She couldn't see anything, but she could hear quiet voices. She tried to sit up, but fell back from the pain. She groaned hoping whoever had her would know she was awake.

Sure enough, a door opened on the far side of wherever she was, light flooding her vision, almost blinding her.

"Shane?" It was Dean's voice. "Shane, kid, can you hear me?"

Shane's eyes slowly adjusted to the light around her, and she noticed she was sitting in one of the beds in Sam and Dean's motel room.

"I'm ok," She squeaked, voice hoarse and cracking.

"We heard on the police scanners," Dean looked straight into Shane's eyes, sadness evident in his gaze. "What happened?"

"Laura...." Shane's voice trailed off until she could manage to say the next few words, "She got possessed."

Dean's expression changed from sadness to fear and shock. "Shanie..."

"She... she got Jackson. I don't know about the other kids, but-" Shane's voice was cut off with a sob.

"Shane, don't worry. We're going to get this thing. We're going to send that thing so far into hell, even Satan won't know where to find it." Dean walked toward the bedside and sat in a chair beside Shane.

"How exactly are we going to do that?"

Dean shook his head. "I don't know, but, Sammy and I'll figure something out. I promise, kid. I'm not going to let that thing hurt you again."

Shane looked at the hem of the sheet. "Can you...," she shook her head, "Nevermind. It's stupid."

Dean raised his eyebrow, "What?"

"Can you stay with me? Just until I fall asleep, then you can go."

Dean smiled.

"Ok, I get it. It was stupid. You can stop looking at me like that, you jerk." Shane crossed her arms and looked away angrily.

"That's not it, Kid," Dean said nudging her shoulder so he could sit beside her, "It's just cute. That's all."

"I am not cute."

"Didn't say you were."

A silence setteled over them. It wasn't awkward or uncomfortable. It was almost peaceful. Shane rested her head against Dean's shoulder and drifted off to sleep.

-----

Dean closed the door as quietly as he could. He had left Shane's sleeping figure curled up against one of the pillows. He couldn't get the image out of his head from when he found her. She was so lifeless. Her skin was warm and she had a pulse, no matter how slow it was. But she looked very dead. Something about her besides the injuries and all the blood seemed dead.

"How's Shane doing?" Sam's voice pulled Dean out of his trance.

"She's ok. Really shaken up, but she'll manage," Dean sat beside his brother outside their room. "We gotta find this thing, man. It's getting more and more violent. Shane's in danger and so is everyone else in this town until that thing is dead."

"I agree completly. I think I might have a plan to trap this thing."

"I'm all ears," Dean rolled his eyes as he took a sip from his beer bottle he'd grabbed on the way out of the room.

"This thing is obsessed with killing Shane, right? So, what if we make it think it can and trap it in that old house."

"We're not using Shane as bait."

"Just hear me out, The only consistant things with this demon is the massacure of a family and it's obsession with having no survivors. Shane's the only leverage we've got. If we can secure the house with salt and Devil's traps, this thing will get caught in the building and we can exorcise it before it hurts anyone else."

"Won't we just be trapping Shane in a building with a demon? And how would this thing not know its a trap."

"Like I said, it's obsessive. It's coming out in broad daylight to attack people. It's going crazy knowing Shane's still alive. It'll work."

Dean sighed. She could get hurt. But, this could work.

"We'll ask Shane when she wakes up."

Ok, so I'm sorry bout the HUGE delay, but here's chapter 16.

Little side note, I aparently forgot to mention in the description that this story is suppose to be shorter, so it reads like an episode or feels like it would fit in an episode's time slot.

As always, thanks for reading, commenting, and voting!

Much Love,

XOXO
