Sam, Dean, and Shane pulled into the driveway of the orphanage to find Mrs. Kendric waiting on the porch, a terrified and angry expression on her face.

The trio piled out of the car, and Laurend rushed over toward them.

"Oh my god, Shane," She breathed when she noticed Shane's wounds, "What the hell happened to her!? What did you do!?" She turned her furious gaze toward Sam and Dean.

"Miss, I can explain-" Dean began,

"I don't want your fricking explinations, you've already lied to me. You're not with the FBI."

"What? How-"

"I work with kids from difficult legal circumstances and those in witness protection. I called some of my friends to research you two agents and they told me that you didn't exist. Now you have two options; tell me who the hell you are and I'll make sure the police aren't too rough on you, or leave now, never come back and don't ever talk to Shane again, and I'll forget about the whole thing," Her stone cold gaze was set on the two men. "You choose."

"We'll go," Dean mumbled,"but we didn't do anything to Shane."

"Whatever," Mrs. Kendric turned back to the house, "Come one, Shane."

Shane didn't move.

"Shane," Lauren said, turning to find Shane standing behind the imposters.

"No."

"You don't have a choice, Shane. I don't trust these men and I refuse to let you associate with them any longer."

Shane turned to Sam and Dean, "I'm sorry. Just... find this thing."

They nodded and climbed back into the impala.

"I don't like the idea of leaving her here, Sam." Dean said as they were pulling out. His eyes were trained on Shane as they drove away. "I don't like it."

----

"What the hell were you thinking, Shane!? Running off to meet two total strangers, not saying a word to anyone?! Do you know how terrified I was?! They could've been murders, or worse, and we wouldn't know where to find you!"

Lauren was walking behind Shane as she headed for the stairs.

"Whatever," Shane mumbled.

"Whatever!? That's all you have to say to me!? You young lady are grounded. If you even think about leaving your room-"

"Whatever! I don't fricking care! Not like it's going to matter. I'll fricking die in there anyway."

"What on earth are you talking about?"

"Like you care." Shane slammed her door shut, locked it, and plugged in her headphones.

She could still hear Mrs. Kendric yelling at her from outside the room, but she knew she wouldn't be able to get in.

Shane slumped into a heap beside her bed, putting her head in her hands. Hot salty tears sting her cuts as she cried silently.

"I'll fricking die in there anyway." Shane knew what she meant. She was unwanted, and she knew it. No one who had ever come to the orphanage wanted the crazy kid. She'd watched ten kids come and go, leaving with happy, cheery families... leaving her behind.

She had no family, no hope, no nothing. All she had was this demon. The more she thought about it, the more she prayed Sam and Dean would find it.

Sam and Dean. She missed them already. They had been more kind to her than anyone else she'd ever met.

She slowly cried herself to sleep, hoping when she woke up, all of this would be nothing more than a nightmare.
