Chapter 10 - Shadows

I arrived at the cafe and saw Spike waiting at a table "Hey Spike!" I said to get his attention and smiled, he looked over and smiled while walking over to me.

"So what's up? You look awful." He stated. "As in like you look tired- have you gotten any sleep?" He sounded concerned.

I nodded "I've gotten sleep just not much of it, I had to leave my apartment cause it's like haunted or some shit. I don't know." He tilted his head in confusion. 

"Haunted? what makes you think that?"

"Well, Sean came to visit and I felt the eyes i've been feeling for weeks, so Sean looked around my apartment and a lamp fell over and smashed all on it's own, so i'm temporarily staying in Sean's house." 

He looked surprised then a smirk appeared "Staying at Sean's huh?" 

I laughed and shook my head "Not like that! He just offered to help me feel safer."

"Cause anyone would feel safe with a Irish god right?" We both laughed.

Spike ordered coffee as I just ordered a simple tea, We sat there for a while just enjoying the small chatter until Spike got a confused look on his face while staring directly behind me. 

"Spike, what is it?" He looked as if he didn't hear me. "Spike?" Suddenly he looked back at me and I was concerned. "Are you okay?"

"There was- like a shadow over there." I was confused. "A shadow?" 

"Yeah, it was staring right at you. Did you feel him staring?" 

come to think of it I did. I looked at him and nodded. 

"The shadow did look kinda creepy, maybe that's what's been following you the whole time?"

Just that sentence made me nervous. "Spike please, I'm already spooked enough." 

He nodded "Okay. Well you should get back to Sean's."

I agreed and stood up and we walked to the door together. "See ya later Spike!" 

"See ya Y/N! be careful!" I nodded and ran back to Sean's house.

~ Sean's P.O.V ~ 

Mark and I arrived at my home, we walked inside and the house was really quiet. Something felt off. 

"I'm gonna go check on Y/N real quick." I told Mark before heading upstairs 

"Okay" I heard Mark respond as I got to the top of the stairs, I knocked on her bedroom door, no answer. I slowly cracked open the door and saw she wasn't in bed. I opened the door the rest of the way examining the rest of the room, she wasn't in her room. I got a bit nervous.

I checked the rest of the upstairs before heading back downstairs, I checked everywhere and came back into the hallway practically scared. 

"What's wrong? Is she okay?" Mark asked. 

"She's not here." I was getting ready to call her when I heard the front door open down the hall, I ran to the hall and looked to see Y/N had just walked through and I let out a breathe I didn't know I was holding. Without thinking I ran up and hugged her.

~ Y/N's P.O.V ~

I had just walked back into Sean's home when suddenly I was met with a tight hug, I looked up to see it was Sean.

"I came home and you weren't here so I got worried." He spoke softly.

"I'm sorry, I went to the cafe with Spike." 

He sighed softly "Okay, well glad you're safe, now come on! I have someone i'd like you ta meet!" He held my hand and lead me down the hall to the living room where a man was standing, he was in fair shape, he had jet black hair and was just a few inches taller than myself. 

"Y/N, this is Mark. Mark, this is Y/N." Sean said, introducing us. 

"It's nice to meet you Mark!" I had been fairly excited to see the friend Sean thinks so highly of. 

"It's nice to meet you as well, Y/N." We shook hands and then Sean spoke.

"So! Y/N already has her guest bedroom and the other room will be Mark's for a few days! it's 2 doors down from mine so we're all fairly close ta each other!"

I smiled and nodded, It was getting close to dinner time by now.

"I'll start dinner for us!"

"Oh! you don't have to do that Y/N!"

"Please, I insist! It's the least I can do for you." I smiled as he smirked a bit and shook his head.

"Alright then, I'll show Mark his room!" I nodded as Mark and himself headed upstairs.
