Henry's POV
My eyes slowly opened, and I realized that it was morning. At the realization, I jumped off the couch and ran up the stairs halting when I got to my door. I slowly opened the door and saw that Beverly was still asleep. I walked up to her and thought of the meanest way to wake her up. She needs to stay away from me, and I need to hate her. I figured that if I keep telling myself this then I'll eventually believe it. I settled on lightly shaking her, so I wouldnt scare her. She woke up gasping for air with tears in her eyes. I jumped back thinking she was going to hit me. She took in deep shaky breathes, fear was evident on here face.
"Okay, well come down and eat when you're ready" I said, not wanting to have to stay and comfort her. She nodded and I left the room closing the door behind me. When I went down yhe staurs I realized just how awkward I felt having her in my house. I'm supposed to be this big, mean, strong guy that doesn't care about anyone or anything. So this cant be any different. She means absolutely nothing to me and in fact, she's going to be leaving by the end of the day.
At that moment, I heard a vehicle pull into the driveway, and without even looking I knew it was my dad's car. I bolted up the dtairs and into my room. Closing the door behind me I looked to a very scared looking Beverly. "My dad's home early," I told her. "Can you get up?" I asked knowing that she would have to no matter what. She nodded and threw the covers back. She put her feet on the ground and stood up. I stepped towards her ready to catch her when she started to sway. She put a hand on the bed and used it as support.
"Yes, I can walk" she said unsteadily.

"Okay, then I'll go down and distract him while you sneak out. When you're outside, wait for me in my car. I'll meet you there and take you to Mike's or something where you'll be safe." I said, not looking foward to the boxing match that was about to go on downstairs. She nodded. "Just wait at the top of the stairs, and when you think its safe then get out as fast as possible."

I walked down the stairs and tried to seem normal. "Hey dad" I say with caution. He glared at me, his eyes full of nothing but hatred.

"What are you doing here" he growled.

"Nothing, I just got bored of being around a bunch of idiots. Thats all" I heard a creak on the stairs. My dad's head shot in that directiong.

"What was that?" He said is voice growing angrier. "Did you bring someone here without me knowing"  Beverly came tumbling down the stairs. When she saw my father her eyes widened.  "Who the hell is that?" My father screamed. Bev quickly got up and ran towards the door but my father was faster and blocked her path.  "You little whore! What are you doing in my house?" Beverly's eyes widened and she backed up. She looked around for another exit and spotted the back door. We locked eyes for a split second and we both nodded. she ran for the back door, just barely making it out as I ran for the front door also just barely making it out. Beverly came running around the side of the house and towards my car. It was at that moment that the group of losers showed up.

I think about everything my dad will do to me the next time he sees me. I realize that this is all her fault. "Get out." I say in a low tone.

"What?" Beverly looks at me with fear etched on her face. I didnt repeat myself and instead gave her a glare getting ready to push her out of my car if I need to. Slowly, she pushes herself out of the car and limps towards her friends getting on back pegs of one of the bikes. Just as she gets on my dad vome barreling out the door screaming at the top of his lungs with a gunin his hands. I slam my foot on the gas pedal as I hear a bullet go off. I hear Beverly screaming for the losers to go faster and a second shot goes off and I hear her scream. When I look into my review mirror, I see that she's okay and I keep driving.
