Bev's POV
The doorbell rang and we all jumped. The gang exchanged confused looks, wondering who could possibly be at the door, seeing as everyone who mattered was in the room.
"What if it's Henry Bowers coming back to finish off Ben?" Richie said with a fake sadistic smile on his face. I look to ben and I can see the fear in his eyes.
"I'll take care of it." I said, trying to sound confident when my mind was racing. How did he know where to find us? How could I look at him the same way after what he did to Ben? "Do you have anything I could use as a weapon? Just in case?" I ask after a pause. Ben looks down to a heavy book that looks like a dictionary. I let out a stressed laugh, "Preferably not a book." Just as he goes into the closet the doorbell is rung several more times. Ben comes back with a baseball bat, which I take and start walking down the stairs.
The group followed behind me, creeping down the stairs. When I get to the door, I looked through peep hole on the door but I couldn't see anyone outside. My heart was practically pounding out of my chest, but I slowly unlocked the door before yanking it open with the bat ready.
There was no one there. I stuck my head outside and still saw no sign of a person. I went to close the door, but I stopped after looking down. There was a pair of bloodstained metal scissors, with long red hairs stuck to them. The group opened the door farther so they couls see what I was looking at.
"W-w-wh-who do y-ou think put th-o-o-ose there?" Bill asked, before anyone else in the group could.
"I... I um dont know." I jumped when I felt someone tap me on the shoulderBen handed me a paper towel and I used it to pick the scissors up and throw them into the trash. I put the paper towel over the top of them so anyone looking inside wouldn't see them. "It could have been the clown, my dad, or Henry." I paused trying to think. "My bet is the clown. There's no way Henry or my dad knows that I am here with you guys.
"All the more reason to get back upstairs and figure this thing out." Ben said, a very serious expression on his face.
"Woooaahhhh Haystack! Buy me dinner first at least," Richie exclaimed thinking he was being hilarious.
"Beep Beep Richie!" we all say together.
"Not the time or the place man," Mike says with a small smile on his face.
As a group we went back up the stairs into Ben's room. I took a look at the map of where the old well was, holding it up to the light trying to figure out why it looked so similar. Bill walked over to me, holding a paper of his own. It was a map of the sewers. He took the chart out of my hand and lined it up with his.
"Woah," Eddie had an unnerved tone in his voice. Clearly not liking what he was seeing. The two charts lined up perfectly, and right where the old well stood, was the house on Neibolt Street. "We have to go back there again?!" Eddie's voice trembled in fear.
"No," I reassured him. "We'll have to come up with a plan to kill It once and for all before we go anywhere near that house." The gang all nodded in agreement. I knew that even though we didn't all show it, we were all just as freaked out as Eddie. It was a good thing for all of us to take a break.
"I th-th-think we-e-e should just take a b-b-break for a d-a-a-ay," Bill suggested. We all nodded in agreement again.
"Why don't we just have a sleepover here? My mom wont get back till late and she's always talking about wanting to meet my friends so I cant imagine she'll have a problem with it," Ben offered, clearly a little nervous. "Well except Bev..." he paused and rubbed the back of his neck nervously, "You'll probably have to hide, but you can spend the night too," his face turned a slight shade of pink. I gave him a smile and I nodded.
"Thanks Ben,"I gave him a hug. I hadn't even thought about where I would be sleeping and it was nice to feel the relief of knowing I had somewhere to stay. We all jumped when the door opened downstairs.
"Ben honey, are you home?" a woman called from downstairs.
"Yeah mom, I'm in my room!" he responded before turning to me and whispering "Quick, hide under the bed." I gave him the 'are you serious right now' look before getting underneath his bed before his mom walked in.
"Oh! You didn't tell me you have friends over."She said clearly excited.
"Oh... um yeah. This is Bill, Eddie, Stan, Richie, and mike." Ben introduced everyone. "I was wondering if they could stay the night?" he asked.
"Sorry Hun, not tonight. It's just too short notice, but tomorrow night for sure if they'd like." His mom sounded really apologetic.
All the guys mumbled something along the lined of "Its all good," or "We would love to come back tomorrow" and I could hear them file out of the room and back down the stairs. That's when I realized that I would be spending the night alone with Ben Hanscom.
