[Codie] Aaaaaaaaaaand cue the training music!(You Make My Dreams - Hall And Oates)
***Basement***
The kids all stood in a single file line while their Dad paced back and forth in front of them.
"If you kids're gonna be ninjas, you need to be sharp. All of your senses. Sight, sound, smell. All of them need to be at their highest point. Ready?"
They all nodded with smiles and confident faces.

***Tennis Court***
Mike stood on the other end with a wooden training katana while his mother, his siblings, Tina, Conrad, and Katie, all stood on one end of the court next to a pitching machine. Except for Codie. He was in a stroller.
From the side of the tennis court, Sheldon began instructing his son. "The average boxer punches at 11 miles per hour. You gonna need to be quick like that. In a fight, your reflexes need to be sharp as Rambo's knife. Especially when obstacles are coming at you! You can either disable 'em, dodge 'em, or throw them back at your opponent. We're gonna try that with these balls."
Mike nodded as he stood there, waiting for the balls to fire.
Sheldon turned on the machine and out flew the first one. Mike kept his eyes on the ball as it soared towards him before he closed his eyes and swung the sword like a bat. When he opened his eyes he looked to the other side of the court to see his father smiling and holding up the ball in his hand.
"Good job, son! Now quicker!" He yelled before turning the machine on high.
Balls suddenly began shooting out rapidly! Mike's eyes went everywhere as he swung the sword in every direction, trying to hit every one of them. It worked for a while, but it went downhill when he lost it and was hit by what seemed like a million tennis balls.
Sheldon turned off the machine and walked over to his son. Mike was down about his showing. His head hung low and he had dropped the training katana, but a hand caught it just before it touched the ground. The sight surprised the boy and he saw that it was his father.
Having knelt down, Sheldon held Mike by the shoulders and gave him a look of support. "It's ok, Mike. This is only the beginning. You'll get better."
Mike smiled at his father's words. Suddenly, his courage had been restored. With a new attitude and a bit more optimism, he couldn't wait to get better.

"Weapons. A weapon is only as good as the person who wields it. So you need to choose a weapon that best suits you. So choose your weapon wisely."
The kids looked at the weapons rack in front of them. Finally, they all chose the ones that fit them.
Mike went for the Katanas. They just felt right in his hands. A little heavy, but a work of art.
A pair of Twin Sai caught Derek's eye and he went for them. So light, so dangerous. But, OH so cool! He noticed the tips of it were sharp and made sure to keep a good grip.
