***Middle School, 2019***

[Mike] Okay, so now we're in 2019. We're 14 now. We haven't officially become ninjas yet, but we're pretty much there.

[Derek] Yeah, and we were real psyched to be real ninjas and take on whatever came out way.

[Eddie] But little did we know, that a challenge would present itself very soon.

The day was pretty much over.

Mike opened his locker and put his books in. Suddenly, he was pushed against the lockers, his head going into his. The sound of laughter echoed inside of the locker.

When Mike pulled his head out and looked behind him, he saw the same kid who's been bullying him for the past five years, Byron Mills.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Evans!" He said hysterically. His friends laughing with him.

'The heck you are!' Mike thought to himself. What Mike really wanted to say would've either gotten him expelled, or worse.

A small crowd was forming. Starting "OOOOOHs" that soon escalated in "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"

And part of Mike wanted that. It would bring so much joy to shut Byron up. But then he remembered the words of his father.

(Flashback)

Mike was sitting at the counter in the kitchen. Upset at the events of that day. He had gotten into a fight with Byron because he wouldn't stop making fun of him. When Katie defended him, she got laughed at and pushed down. And that didn't sit so well with Mike.

A few hours later, after a trip to the principal's office and a quick detour to the nurse, here he was. Just sitting there. Alone with his thoughts.

"Ya know, Mike," His father said as he pulled out a chair and sat next to him. "You can't always jump into a fight. You don't know what might happen. You gotta think it through first."

This was slightly confusing. Mike thought when you thought when our think you're right, go for it. Apparently not.

"What do you mean?" The young adolescent asked.

A smile appeared on Sheldon's face. He loved to teach his kids something new, but it was even better when they were curious. And in Mike's case, he was also humble about it. A quality passed down from his father.

"Well, before the fighting starts, you gotta look for a way to try and outsmart your opponent," Sheldon tapped the side of his head to help emphasize his point, "Beat 'em at their own game."

Now it was Mike's turn to think. This was a new, but still useful piece of advice. And as he thought more about it, he realized his father was right. So he smiled and nodded at him as a new idea came to mind.
