The faint sound of deep laughter rose me from my sleep. It seemed to come from outside my room.
Annoyed that my sleep had been interrupted, I got out of bed and walked barefooted to the door.
Peeking out of the peephole of my room door, I saw three boys standing outside my room. Since it was about 2am in the morning, it was very dark out so I couldn't see their exact features, but could only make out their silhouettes.
I could hear their voices, though they were speaking in Korean, and I was too groggy to make out what they were saying.
After about five minutes, the three boys left, and I was shrouded in a bout of curiosity in the mysterious boys' appearances. Usually I would try to find out what was going on, but I was too tired to think about it further.
Slumping back onto my bed, I had sweet dreams for the rest of the night.
The next morning, my body reflex allowed me to wake up at exactly 6am, which gave me enough time to get ready for classes that would start at 7.30am.
I showered, changed into a oversized violet long-sleeved top and black joggers with my favourite white windbreaker that I wear almost everywhere that's not in Singapore. If you were wondering, yes, I love oversized shirts, I mean, what girl doesn't? Besides the slutty ones of course.
I'm not really into make-up, so I only slathered on a neutral colour on my lips and dabbed on a tiny bit of eyeliner.
With that, I grabbed my schedule and books that I would use that day, stuffed them into a grey haversack and headed to the same classroom we assembled in the previous day for attendance taking before we would be released to our respective Korean classes and to eat breakfast.
Since I hadn't taken my breakfast yet, I read signboards to make my way to the cafeteria where I bought something quick after attendance taking with half an hour left before class.
When I was walking through the school to the canteen, I noticed some things I didn't notice yesterday when I first came to the classrooms.
Everything was designed to have a relaxed feel with the hallways having white walls and dark green flooring. The classrooms had white walls and birch flooring, while the cafeteria had a glass dome as the ceiling to let in natural light. Of course, if the sun was too hot it had sheltered parts outside the glass dome. There were glass panes all around the school that allow you to see out too, with eco-gardens beside each wing of the school.
The cafeteria was half crowded as many students usually eat outside before heading to classes because apparently there's more selection.
I managed to buy a meat bun without any hassle since I knew how to speak Korean, so the lady tending the stall took a liking to me as I didn't make a big fuss about 'not knowing Korean' like my other classmates would, which is why my class is also different from theirs since I don't have to learn the basics of Korean.
