I hope y'all enjoy the chapter! This one is really short, just under half the length of what they usually are.

Mikes POV

I sit in the corner of a small booth in a cafe, waiting for him to show up. My palms are sweating as I play with the ends of my sleeves nervously.
I've always felt second best to him, he makes me feel insecure. I guess it's the truth though, he took everything from me. He took Cal from me.

He walks in and stops to look for me, and when our gazes lock he makes his way over in long strides to take a seat.

"Michael," he says with a bored expression, "Why did you ask me to come here?"

I keep my eyes on the table and try to forgot our past history, just to have one conversation, "I know it's been awhile, but I just- I just really need to know."

I look up at him and he has a small smile lingering on his lips as he cocks his head to the side in confusion,
"Know what? What are you on about? Hurry up and get to the point."

Before I can think about it, it just comes out, "Why did Cal stop talking to me?"

He blinks a few times with an empty stare, before regaining his composure, "Oh. That was three years ago mate, we don't need to talk about that."

What? I tense my legs to try and release some anger and emotion. I need to know, I can't just keep thinking about it every day. I need someone to say once and for all what I can't; He ditched me. He didn't want to know me anymore, so he just walked away from our friendship. Maybe he blames me for what happened to him.
"Luke, answer the question."

He shoots me a dirty look and crosses his arms over his chest much like a child would,
"No. You need to get over it, it w-"

I cut him off by slamming my hand on the table with a harsh look in my eyes,
"Fucking tell me!"

His eyes widen as he raises his hands in defence,
"Fine. Well, I- He-" he takes a deep breath, "He doesn't remember you, Michael."

What? My mouth falls open a tiny bit in shock as I try to process what Luke just said.
I feel like I've been shot with a poison arrow, and the thick liquid is spreading through my body and taking over.

The panic is building up inside of me as I take deep laboured breaths and squeeze my eyes shut and clench my fists.
I don't know what to do. What am I meant to do!?
How could he forget me? I don't understand, he said he remembered everything.

"Cal!" I smile, walking over to my best friend as he stands at his locker, "I heard you got your memory back, and you remember everything."

He shifts awkwardly on his feet, peering over my shoulder at something,
"Yeah, I do. Look man, I need to go, my best friend Luke is over there."

My face contorts in confusion and hurt as he walks right past me and over to the guy who makes our lives hell: Luke.

I feel sick. This isn't right, I don't understand. I tug at my hair trying to comprehend the new information. My heart splits open, pouring out all the pent up emotions, and filling my body with them.
My hands are shaking as I try to calm down and control myself.

"I-I," I stammer over my words, trying to form a sentence, "How can I make him remember?"

Luke's face is shocked and scared as he reaches out, frantically shaking his hands,
"No! No. You can't make him remember."

What does he mean? Cal deserves to remember his life, surely anyone can see that. I frown at his response and ask him,
"What do you mean? Why not?"

He bites his lip in thought,
"I don't want to lose him. I know it's selfish, but he's my best friend now. I can't lose him."

Is he fucking kidding me?

My fists clench as I respond, getting closer to him with every word,
"you're right, it is selfish. You never deserved him to begin with Luke, you made his life hell! Our lives hell! You can't just keep me away from him!"

He smirks cockily as he stands up from his seat,
"Watch me. You, Michael Clifford, will never EVER be friends with Calum Hood again," and he walks out.

Fuck him, I will do anything in my power to get Cal to remember, I'll just have to be sneaky about it. I'll just have to make sure Luke doesn't find out.

But they're best friends, Cal will tell Luke everything. I need to spend time with Cal doing something that he won't tell Luke...

I stand up and walk out the door, with my head held high in determination. With my attitude now changed, I know I can get him to remember me. I'm just missing something, first I need a small change in my appearance.

I know exactly what to do.
