Shifting

It was already dark outside when they came to fetch me, Godfrey walked with me to the outside where Catherin and Jake was waiting for me, I couldn't look him in the eyes after last night and then this morning when he just up and left without a word. He left me with them and then excused himself. "Well, hello my dear. How are you feeling tonight?" Catherin asked me. "I am good thank you, but why are we in the field?" I asked the older woman looking around me at the open field at the back of the castle, it was beautiful out here but I was still confused. Catherin cleared her throat then took my hand and walked with me to the middle of the field. "Normally when someone shifts for the first time we do it in the basement, but seeing as you're a dragon shifter we are doing it outside not knowing how big you will be after you shifted" Catherin explains to me. "Oh... Okay..." Was all I could say to her. I stood in the middle of the field feeling awkward with all the eyes on me, I have never liked to much attention and the last couple of days was starting to take its toll on me. "Who are the other people here?" I asked looking at about twelve men and one woman standing on the side of the field. "Oh their just here as a precaution my dear, we don't know how your dragon is going to react coming out for the first time" Catherin told me. I looked at her with my head tilted to the side confused. "Um... Does she really think these people will be able to control a dragon?" I thought to myself and heard a snicker coming from Jake. I looked at him with shock because it seemed he could read my thoughts. He gave me his sexy smile and only nodded his head. Scrunching my nose at him he only chuckled again, I was still a little miffed at him. "Okay.. So um what will happen now? How will I know when I am going to shift?" I asked them not knowing how this is going to work, I didn't even know if I believed everything they were telling me.

"You will feel when the shift is going to happen your body will tell you my dear" Catherin smiled at me. Her words were barely spoken and my whole body felt like it was starting to burn, every bone in my body was aching. I fell down on my knees with the burning and aching raking through my body. "Shit, this is too fast, the moon isn't even completely full yet mother" I heard Jake practically scream at his mother. I couldn't focus on what she answered because a loud ringing started in my ears and then a voice spoke to me in my head. "Relax Mat, take deep breaths and don't fight it, I promise you will be alright" almost freaking out at the voice I asked her, "who is this? And how do you know I will be okay when it feels like my whole body is being ripped apart?" The female voice Snickers, "I am your dragon my dear, and my name is Severa, I will never let anything happen to you" she spoke in a soft caring voice. Relaxing I let the feelings take over my body. It felt like hours went by with my bones breaking and reforming as well as growing when in fact it was only minutes. 

When I opened my eyes I looked around me and the view was amazing, I felt like I was up two stories high, and everything seemed so small around me. When I looked down Catherin and Jake looked like ants standing under me. I laughed at their faces, their mouths were hanging open and their eyes looked like saucers. When I looked back I could see my wings and damn they were huge. "See I told you I will take care of you my dear" Severa told me through the mind link. "Oh Wow this is unbelievable Severa; I never thought that I could feel so free" I spoke to her breathlessly. She only laughed and told me that this was nothing, that she will show me real freedom soon when me and her get to shift again. I smiled at her and couldn't wait for that to happen. "Now you will shift back, but from now on you will get to shift into my form whenever you want to my dear" she spoke with a smile in her voice. "Okay... Can't wait he he" I replied. My body started to have that burning feeling again but the aches from earlier was gone, there was something so amazing about knowing that no matter what I would never be alone ever again....
