=Chapter Five=
The Beavers and the Prophecy

The siblings gasped.

"It's a talking beaver!" Edmund exclaimed.

"Alice?" The beaver said, causing everyone to look at me.

"Yes?" I replied, stepping forward. He got out a handkerchief.

"That is the handkerchief I gave to - -"

"Tumnus. He gave it to me just before they took him," Mr Beaver said.

"Is he alright?" Lucy asked.

"Further in," he said, motioning for us to follow. I was the only one to follow, as Susan had pulled Peter back.

"Peter, what you are doing?" Susan asked skeptically.

"She's right. How do we know we can trust this beaver?" Edmund asked, agreeing with his sister.

"Look, I personally know him and he'll do no harm to you. Besides he knows Tumnus," I said, stepping towards them.

"He's a beaver...he shouldn't be saying anything!" Susan exclaimed. Rude, I thought.

"Well, you have to get used to it Susan," I said, rolling my eyes. "Welcome to Narnia."

"Is everything alright?" Mr Beaver said, turning around.

"Yes. We were just talking," Peter said, glaring at Susan.

"That's better left for safer corners," Mr Beaver said.

"He means the trees," I said, and so we set off to the Beaver's Dam. We went through the cliffs, under a bridge and then we see the Dam.

"There is home sweet home," Mr Beaver said with a smile.

"It's beautiful," Lucy said.

"Merely a trifle," Mr Beaver responded.

"Is that you Beaver?" I heard a familiar voice say. "If I find out you've been out with Badger again I'll...Oh, they're not Badgers."

"Hello Mrs Beaver, remember me?" I said, smiling.

"Alice! So good to see you dear!" I bent down and hugged her. "I never thought I would see this day," she said, looking at the siblings and then looked to Beaver. "You couldn't give me ten minutes warning...look at this fur."

"I would have given you a week if I thought it would help," Mr Beaver said, making me chuckle.

"Well you must be cold and hungry. Let's get you inside for some food and civilized conversation," Mrs Beaver said, leading Lucy, Susan, Peter and Mr Beaver inside, Edmund stays and looks between the mountains... right where the White Witches castle is supposed to be.

"Enjoying the scenery, are we?" I ask. Edmund shakes off that comment and enters the dam. I glanced to where he was looking something seems very fishy... I shook my head then followed him inside.

I shrugged off my coat and hung it up.

"Fish and sticks, dear?" Mrs Beaver offered to Lucy.
