=Chapter Ten=
The Last Sunset

I was sat quietly on the hill that overlooked Cair Paravel and the Eastern Ocean. I was picking grass and making daisy chains, as I used to do with my mum when I was a child. We'd sit in the palace gardens all day making them whilst dad was off fighting battles against neighbouring kingdoms.

"Alice?" I heard a voice from behind me. It was Peter.

"Hello, Peter," I say, patting the space next to me. "Sit."

He sat down next to me and looked at me. "Why did you look so sad when you, Aslan and the witch came out?"

"I can't really say," I said, casting my eyes down.

"That's fine, you don't have to tell me..."

"It's a beautiful sunset, isn't it?" I mustered a small smile.

"Yes, beautiful," Peter spoke, looking at me with blue eyes full of love.

We gazed at each other, I could feel my heart race as Peter's face came closer to my own. Our noses grazed each other's gently, and our eyes closed as our lips connected. They fitted like puzzle pieces as they moved in sync. Peter's hands settled on my waist whereas my arms were wrapped round his shoulders and my hands ran through his honey hair. This was a situation I would have never expected, but I was certainly enjoying it.

We hesitantly pulled away with red faces and a cheeky smile was on Peter's face.

"That was nice..." Peter says chuckling softly.

"Yeah," I agreed smiling.

"FINALLY!" A shout rang from behind us. We quickly turned around to see Lucy, Susan and Edmund, Susan's hand was on Lucy's mouth - she was the one who shouted out. Edmund burst into a fit of giggles.

"It's not funny!" Peter scowled at his brother. Whilst I just laughed lightly, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Aren't you suppose to be in bed?" My father said, we had heard footsteps following us.

"We couldn't sleep," it was Susan and Lucy.

"Please, Aslan. Couldn't we come with you?" Susan asks, she then looks at me.

"We would be glad of the company tonight," Aslan says, the two eagerly walked beside us.

We walked in silence till we got to a clearing.

"It is time. From now on, we must go alone," Father says.

"Thank you Susan. Thank you Lucy," I say to them. "Tell Edmund Thank you as well, and please say to Peter that I love him, and farewell my friends, I'm sorry."

We carry on walking toward the stone table. We saw that there was candles lit.

"I'm so sorry my dear," father says. "To go through the pain."

"It's fine Father," I say. "It's the best thing to do."

I hugged Aslan before walking on my own. My legs shook with terror as the terrifying creatures of the witch ripped off the black and gold cloak I wore. Underneath I wore a black dress.

"Oh look it's the princess!"

Everyone was laughing and shouting threats at me, it was horrible.

"Bind her!" The witch ordered. "Wait, first cut her hair!"

The crowd surrounded me and I saw my locks of dark brown getting cut viciously by hags and weird pigs. I held the tears in as I shook violently.

Once they were finished the took ropes and tied my arms and legs, then threw me by the witches feet. The floodgates opened and tears streamed as I was frightened.

"Tonight, the Deep magic will be appeased but tomorrow, we will take Narnia, Forever!" The witch cheered, and the crowd roared. Jadis bent down and whispered in my ear. "You know, Alice, I'm a little disappointed in you're father. Did he really think that giving his daughter's life you would save the Human boy? Ha. You are giving up your life, and saving no one. So much for love..."

"In that knowledge and despair she will DIE!!" I felt the burning pain of a knife in my stomach, I looked into the forest to make eye contact with a crying Susan and Lucy and a sad Aslan. Everything went black.

"The princess is dead!" The witch called out. Her army cheer loudly. "General, gather your army and prepare for battle. However short it may be."

The witch and her army went away quickly.

Susan, Lucy and Aslan came up to the body. They all mourn and Susan brushes her finger through Alice's now short hair. Lucy gets an idea and unscrews her potion.

"It's too late. She's gone. I'm sure that she knew what she was doing," Susan says sadly.

"And yet she did child," Aslan says. "I'm sorry you had to see that."

"Aslan, We have to tell the others," Susan says.

"The Trees," Lucy suggested.

Peter and Edmund slept soundly, but the eldest started to squirm as there was a cold breeze. He opened his eyes and quickly pulled out his sword, Edmund was awake now too.

"Fear not my princes. I come with tidings of grave news from your sisters and Aslan... Princess Alice is dead..."

Peter's eyes widen as he quickly ran to where she slept, he expected her to be sleeping there...

But she wasn't.

Peter walks out of the tent with a distraught expression.

"It is true, she's gone," Peter sniffed. "So's Aslan..."

"Then I guess you'll have to lead us. There's a whole army out there waiting to follow you," Edmund says. He was sad too, but he tried to hide it.

"I can't," Peter said doubtfully.

"Alice and Aslan believed you could. And so do I," Edmund says. "And don't you want to avenge Alice?"

Peter nodded with a hard stare. His sadness got replaced by anger.

"What are your orders?" Orieus asked.

Peter's eyes scanned the map, and they landed on Beruna.
