Chapter 49

 "I'll be with you, so will Rick." I knew there was no getting out of it.

"Fine. I'll go but he gets 5 minutes and that's it, after that I want out." I follow him to where they kept Jake, people keep looking at me as they all start to wake up.

"What is she doing here!" Lauren yells.

"Jake wanted to see her." Glenn confirms.

"Not on my watch." Before I knew it her hands were around my neck, I fall down to the ground. "You almost killed him!" Her hands now tightening around me. "You deserve to die."

"Get off her!" I hear Darren yell before her hands were no longer around my neck, my body gasps for air.

"Lauren!" Rick shouts in anger. "I told you not to touch her."

"She almost killed him Rick!"

"And you almost killed her!" He runs his hands through his hair. "Take her to her cell and keep her in there. Don't let her out." Darren helps me up as Lauren was taken to her cell, I could hear her cries in the distance. Rick looks to me.

"I'm fine." I say best I could, I knew this was a bad idea. I follow Rick into Jake's cell he was in.

"I want to speak to her alone." Jake's voice rings out, I quickly shake my head.

"It's not wise Jake." Rick tries.

"Please. I trust her enough to not do anything."

"The agreement is someone is always with Megan, so no. I'll be here too."

"Fine." He slowly sits up. "Megan will you sit next to me?" I shake my head. "Please." I stay by the cell door. "Don't you trust me?"

"I don't trust myself." I mumble.

"I know you didn't mean to hurt me like this." I look to him, his top half of his body was covered in bruises. He had dried blood on his lip and a black eye, I quickly look away as the guilt takes over. "It was my fault." 

"No, I'm the one to blame."

"Megan, no. I pushed it, I've done nothing but try to break you and Daryl apart. And when it happened. I saw my chance but went about it the wrong way. I only cared about myself and getting what I wanted, I didn't care what happened to you when you got taken. I just cared that if you came back then I'd make you mine." I roll my eyes. "But after the beating you both gave me, I kind of realised that we are never gonna happen." Well at least he got some sense knocked into him. "Basically, I'm sorry. I'll leave you two alone"

"Thank you. And I'm sorry for doing what I did to you."

"It's okay." He gives me a gentle smile.

"Is that everything?" 

"Yeah. Oh and sorry about Lauren, I'll talk to her." I nod and look at Rick who was looking elsewhere, I nudge him lightly.

"All done?" He questions.

"Yeah." He nods and walks me back to my cell, the walk was quick and quiet. "Hows Judith and Carl?" I question as I stand in my cell.

"They're okay, Carl's still adjusting to the others. He's become protective of Rachel a lot more and he's learning things off Darren, he really likes your kids." I smile to him. "Just so you know, I understand how you feel. When you was missing, I lost Lori. My world came crashing down, it still is. But I lost it, I could have easily killed Tyreese, Sasha anyone who got in my way. But all I saw was Lori, I saw her everywhere. I still don't trust how I am but I know they're counting on me, it's okay to be afraid Megan. It's okay to feel like you do, but just know you can get through it. We both can, it'll take time but you can do it." I wrap my arms around him and hold him tight as tears start to find their way out of my eyes. He places his arms around me in return, we stay like this for a while. It was something we both needed, he trusted me again.
