"Oh my god" I said outloud. Shane looked at me puzzled. "You're Shane Walsh. You knew my friend Amber!" I said excitedly. "Yeah I did. It's a real shame how she died. She wanted to hook me up with some girl the night she died. Amber talked about her all the time though. Always talked about how beautiful and funny the girl was. Said she was single and said that I would like her but I never got to meet that girl." I was happy and sad at the same time. I missed Amber but if she was still here she would laugh if she knew I ran into Shane like this. "Yeah well" I started to say. "That girl was me." I blushed and looked away but noticed Shane was checking me out. "Well let me just say that Amber was certainly not a liar." I could feel my cheeks burning.
Shane began to lead me back to his camp and we exchanged details about ourselves. I learned that he was a cop and when this went down he found a group of survivors. "So how old are you?" I asked curiously. "I'm 34. What about you?" He asked. "25" I said laughing. He looked at me with hungry eyes. "So....you in a relationship?" Shane asked. "Nah. No guy ever was dumb enough to get himself caught up with me for too long because of my abusive shitface father." I explained. "I'm lucky Amber stuck by me." I started to get upset thinking about her. Amber was the only friend I had. She was the one I talked to about everything. And for her to be taken from me so suddenly....it just wasn't fair. "Well on the bright side" Shane started, "your dad ain't around no more to scare anyone off." I laughed at his comment. "Yeah I guess you're right." We walked for a little less than half a mile before we reached the camp. "Here we are Sara." Shane nudged me. "Your new home."
