I squinted my eyes as I felt moon light shine in from the window. The blinds we completely up and the night sky shined in, star lighting up my numb blue eyes. The room and probably whole building was quiet, not even the air conditioner could be heard. I sat up on the bed moving only my head to look around. I sighed and tried to stand but my legs were weak, "curse you toothpick legs..." I cursed under my breath and though I was whispering it felt like my voice echoed through the room. I finally gained some balance and held onto the edge of the bed to keep myself up.
of course I didn't have my normal clothes. So I went around the room searching cabinets and closets with medical supplies. In most of the closets were shelf's with medicine and paperwork. I looked around till I found my clothes hidden in a cabinet with other things like my phone, and papers with my information on it. "Dam did they search Poppy's house or mine for this?" I winced when I tried to chuckle under my breath.
Grabbing my clothes I began to change, The pants were difficult to put n though, because that requires bending your chest and I currently was in bandages and It not only hurt, but it was also difficult to breath. With sharp (attempts of) inhales, I got fully clothed and reached for my phone and the paper work that was about me. I thought of calling someone but I knew it be to loud so I unlocked my phone looking to message my parents... but there was no contact information. In fact all numbers other than Poppy, Jasmine, and 911 were on my phone and I couldn't get to the dial. "Dammit- I should have learned their numbers by now- this is bullshit." I wanted to throw my phone but that would have made to much noise. I grid my teeth and began looking around with my eyes locking on the door. I took a few steps forward to hear a snap.
"Let your temper take control."
I mute whisper filled my ears and I looked down at my hand where my phone had been. The screen was cracked and glass cut into my fingertip but somehow the phone still worked. I was a bit shocked that I didn't notice my grip on the phone in the first place, but I shook it off. I walked to the door and turned the nob- apparently it wasn't locked.
I hopped out the room closing the door behind my as quietly as possible. It was dark but I could still see the general figure of lights on the ceiling that were off and doors across from each other in the long hall I walked through. Something about the atmosphere made me uncomfortable: I felt like their were things in the dark just staring at me, silence with only my foot steps to make sounds of a light tapping filled the hall as I felt my pace speed up. My stomach began to curl up and I felt sick.
"You'd think they'd have a security guard here or something..." I whispered to keep myself from freaking out, with a voice even my own- sometimes it's better than silence. 'Maybe that's why people talk to themselves sometimes...' A sudden thud filled my ears like I was underwater. I reached the end of the hallway where there were two turns, a left and a right. I would probably have gone to the right, winging it, but that was where the thud had echoed from.
Taking a deep silent breath a waited at the corner for another sound or to know it was clear to go. but I heard a sudden tapping...not a tapping of feet scattering through the hall. I stood completely still, holding my breath. The tapping sounded like a finger nail on glass, not scratching to make that annoying screech you hear when something fragile is scratched or two foil cups are rubbed together, but the sound of the nail lightly pocking the glass. I peeked past the corner of the right hall to see no one, but the tapping sounded close. 'maybe its one of the doors...someone is inside one of the rooms that must be it...or its a god dam ghost i don't know anymore.' My thoughts went haywire and I decided to walk down and find what was making that noise.
"This is stupid, classic horror movie stupid..." I tried joking with myself to be less scared but I was just making it worse for myself. Pulling my brown hair up into a pony tail, I found the door that the tapping was coming from. The door as different from the others, most doors were wood and white- but this one was made of medal, no window on it and it had up to three locks on it. Whatever was inside the room, the doctors definitely did not want it out.
