Chapter 3

The festival was beautiful, tents were set up all around, lining the streets of the city. Fairy lights were strung up going from street light to street light, giving the whole place a warm happy glow. Children ran happily through the streets, clinging to their parents hands as they dragged them along, begging for one of the many items that were being sold. 

"Wow it's so beautiful!" Lucy exclaimed, excitedly. Natsu smiled at her as she ran from stall to stall, gushing over all the items being sold. 

"I'm glad you two could make it!" The mayor boomed, coming over to them. "Are you enjoying everything?" 

"Yes! It's so beautiful out here," Lucy exclaimed happily. 

"I'm glad you're enjoying yourselves," He grinned. "Well, have fun and help yourself to anything you want. I must make my rounds," He turned and walked off down the crowded streets. 

"Oh my gosh Natsu there's dancing!" Lucy squealed. She grabbed his hand excitedly and pulled him down the street and over to a crowded dance floor. Happy pop music blared from speakers attached to the street lights. 

"Luce I don't know how to dance," Natsu stuttered as she pulled him in the the middle of the floor. 

"It's easy, here take my hand," She told him, holding it out. He took her hand and she showed him how to twirl her about on the floor. "See isn't this fun?" She asked, smiling. 

"Yeah, it kind of is," He agreed. She took a step forward and her foot hit a rock. She stumbled and fell forward, sending both herself and Natsu crashing the ground. 

"Luce are you okay?" Natsu asked, laughing. She burst out laughing.

"Yeah I'm fine," She giggled. He helped her up and they continued dancing until a slow song came on. 

"Here," Lucy said, putting his hands on her waist. She looped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his chest. 

"Hey Luce?" Natsu asked as they swirled around the dance floor. 

"Yeah?" She replied. 

"You look really nice tonight," He whispered. She blushed and looked down. 

"Thanks," She replied. "You look nice too," She said, looking up at him. He slowly tilted his head down until their foreheads touched. He pressed his lips against hers and pulled her waist closer to him. They stood together for one blissful moment, locked in each others embrace. They pulled apart and Lucy blushed, looking down at the uneven stone pieces beneath us. 

"Natsu I-," She started. He stopped her with another kiss, brushing his thumb across her cheek. 

Happy flew above them, giggling as he watched the scene below unfold. "They're in love~," He sang quietly to himself. Natsu pulled away from Lucy once more and moved his hand down to hers, taking hold of it. 

"Luce?" He whispered, their foreheads still touching. 

"Yeah?" She replied, blushing a deep crimson red. 

"I think I love you," He smiled, taking her other hand. 

"I think I love you too," She replied. She leaned her head on Natsu's shoulder and sighed happily. Their night couldn't have been more perfect.

Just on the outskirts of the village, two figures waited in the shadows watching the festival with interest. 

"When do we strike Dabi? I'm bored of just watching!" The girl whined, fiddling with the knives on her belt. 

"Just be patient Toga, we have to wait. She doesn't care for him enough yet," The man told her, trying to shut her up. 

"They just kissed! People don't get much closer than that!" She hissed at him. "Come on Dabi, Kurogiri and the others are waiting for us!" 

"Just shut up Toga, I'll tell you when we move," He sniped. She leaned up against a tree, sulking. Dabi turned his attention to the blonde and the pinkette. They were still dancing. 

Still oblivious.
