Human life is a frustratingly fragile thing. So much pain, effort and time go into creating life yet it can be snuffed out so quickly.

Lucy knew she couldn't be brave for much longer, she couldn't sit idly by and watch these people beat him day after day, bringing him closer and closer to death's doorstep. He wanted to to be strong, to hold on, to close her eyes and pretend it wasn't happening, but she could't. Maybe if it had been Erza or Grey, or anybody other than her. They would've had the will to hold out and refuse to give into their plans. Lucy felt so weak, so helpless, the only way she could save this one boy who meant so much to her.... was to doom the rest of mankind.

"Come blondie, you know you want to give in," Toga coaxed standing over Natsu's bloodied body. Lucy hung her head trying to mask her pain. "I'll stop right now and leave him alone if you agree to open the gate," Lucy shook her head weakly.

Toga glared at the stubborn girl her frustration rising. How could she be so dense? DIdn't she see her boyfriend was about to die?

"Fine, but I warned you," Toga laughed, turning back towards Natsu. Lucy held her breath as Toga raised her knife. She slashed downward, raking the knife across his face. Blood spatter across the room, droplets hitting Lucy's face. Natsu screamed, tears running down his face. Lucy felt sick, as she watched seemingly endless amounts of blood flow from his face.

"OKAY!" She screamed, crying her eyes out. "I'LL DO IT," She yelled. "Just please! Don't hurt him anymore. I don't want him to die," She said, whimpering the last part.

"Yay!" Toga exclaimed, immediately perking up. "I knew you were a smart cookie!" She giggled, blush spreading across her face. Dabi walked over with Jose while Toga began to bandage Natsu's wounds while humming happily to herself. He had passed out after Toga's last attack and now hung limply in his chains. Dabi untied Lucy and handed her a worn leather book, accented with gold and silver chains. Lucy looked around seeking a possible escape route but it was useless. She was out numbered, and Natsu and Happy were both unconscious, not to mention she didn't have her keys.

"What is this?" Lucy asked, narrowing her eyes at the ancient book in her hands.

"It's a book of lost celestial spells from back in Zeref's days before he became immortal. It contains ancient forbidden spells on how to open portals to different dimensions. The dark lord himself wrote it when he was searching for ways to bring people back from the dead. He came up with many theoretical spells on the subject, eventually planning to pull alternate versions of the people who had passed on in this world and use their DNA to bring them back to life in his world. Ultimately the book was confiscated by his higher ups before he had a chance to try any of the spells and eventually he forgot about it,"  Jose explained, his eyes twinkling maniacally. "Before I was stripped of my wizard saint title, thanks to your pathetic guild of ruffians, the book was given to me by the magic council for safe keeping,"

Lucy took a deep breath. Forbidden spells created by Zeref? That was too far. She didn't even know if she had the power to pull them off.

"Open the book and perform the spell," Dabi instructed, shooting her an icy glare. She nodded and unclasped the silver clasps that held the book closed. She turned the front cover and skimmed over the pages. The spell they wanted her to complete required the use of all twelve zodiac keys. She was to arrange them in a circular pattern on the ground, and in the middle of the circle she would need to place an item that belonged to the world she was attempting to reach. Then she would channel magic energy into them, causing a reaction that would, in theory, open a portal to that world.

"Have you read the spell?" Jose asked. She nodded. Dabi took off one of the metal rings around his arm and handed it to her along with her keys. She sat down on the floor and opened the book, arranging them in the way it showed in the book. She stood up and took a deep breath, raising her hands in front of the keys. She closed her eyes and focused all of the magical energy she could muster into her keys.

The keys began to glow, floating upwards and swirling furiously around Dabi's ring. Lucy screamed defiantly, as the magical energy swirled around her like a tornado. The whole building began to shake throwing things off of shelves and causing people to lose their balance. Toga fell to the ground trying not to throw up. Dabi and Jose gripped the bar and Kurogiri swirled around the room in a panic. Lucy was trapped in the eye of the storm. She felt nothing but pure serenity as she gave the final push of magic energy needed to complete the spell.

The wind and shaking ceased and a bright flash of brilliant white light filled the room. When it was gone The villains looked up to an exhausted Lucy sitting before a swirling golden gateway of light. Lucy looked up in fear at the thing she had just created. Her magical energy was completely drained and her keys were scattered around the room.

"Yes!" Toga yelled excitedly standing up. "Come on guys what are we waiting for, let's go!" She exclaimed. The villains slowly approached the portal. Dabi turned back to look a Jose.

"Do you remember the plan?" He asked, glaring pointedly at him.

"Yes," Jose replied with a nod.

"Then go, we'll send one of ours to meet you at the predetermined time," Jose nodded and left the bar in a hurry. Dabi turned back around and stepped through the portal, disappearing in a flash of golden light. Kurogiri followed and Toga was the last to go through.

"Later wizards!" She exclaimed cheerfully before diving through the portal herself. Lucy summoned all her strength and dragged herself over to Natsu. She grabbed his arm, desperately feeling for a pulse. She breathed a sigh of relief once she found one. He was alive, but she didn't know how much longer he could last without medical attention. She couldn't carry him out of here she was too tired, what's more, she didn't even know where they were. They had teleported here and Lucy hadn't caught a glimpse of what lay outside of the building.

The portal behind her rumbled and emitted a bright flash. She turned around to see a figure fly out of it and crash into the wall. She put her arms up in front of Natsu protectively as she watched the figure stand up. They groaned and stood up, holding their head. They looked around and spotted Lucy and Natsu.

"Are you two alright?" He asked, approaching them slowly. He had wild green hair and wore a dark green suit with white gloves. A clunky red belt was fitted around his waist and black elbow guards and black armour around his legs, along with a pair of bright red running shoes.

"My friend is hurt and he needs help," Lucy choked, crying. "Can you help us?" The boy put a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, it's okay you don't need to cry. Everything's going to be okay," He flashed her a bright happy smile.

"Because I am here,"
