A hand suddenly stretched out of the fountain. The hand had a big gaping hole in the middle of it, and was attached to a skeletal arm. A figure soon stared stepping out after it, and it dropped onto the floor with a gentle thud.
The man that has just crawled out of the fountain was dressed in all black. One eye looked messed up, and he had cracks on his skull. His eyes were two vats of nothingness and when he started to stand up, all that really could be noticed was how he was staggeringly tall. Both hands had the holes in them, and the black outfit he wore seemed to be a suit.
The man rubbed his head and looked around. "Ah, well this is a predicament." He shook his head and held out a hand to the King. "Pleasure to meet you, your majesty."
The King didn't shake his hand, instead focused more on the problem. Which was that he had disposed of a perfectly good human soul and the product of that was a weird skeleton who knew, somehow, who the King was. "Who are you?"
"My name is Doctor W.D Gaster. You can simply call me Gaster. You don't know me. If you did I'd be concerned."
The King still looked confused, so instead Rouxls just moved him out of the way and shook the poor man's hand. "Nice to meet thou. I am-"
"Rouxls Kaard, I assume. I can tell." Gaster turned to Lancer, who wanted to run. "You must be the prince then. Lancer? Pleased to meet you."
Now it was Lancer's turn to shake the creepy guy's hand.
"Nice to meet you, too"
"Sorry, I want an explanation on what the hell just happened. Now." The King interrupted.
"Of course. This fountain you have pulled up from the Earth may be a processor of darkness, but also seems to be a gateway out of the void, where I was, if activated. You just threw a human soul into the void, one strong enough to sustain me in this world, even if it is just for a short while. I know all of your names because I have watched and even interfered in this universe multiple times before. I'm also aware of the current situation." Gaster suddenly clapped his hands and started moving. "Come now, there's no time to waste. Gather everyone in the kingdom, including Ralsei and Seam and other miscellaneous people and tell them to all meet in the throne room."
"Even the-" the King started to say something, but was cut off. Lancer could see he wasn't ready to give this Gaster person a chance.
"No. Not the prisoner. I'll speak with him on my own. I owe him a sincere apology."
"Who are you to have authority over me?" The King said. Lancer heard Rouxls sigh. Always so quick to turn hostile.
"I don't have authority over any of you. If you may, let's discuss this after." Gaster left with a flourish, leaving three confused people staring after him.
"What just happened?" Rouxls asked.
"I don't know, but I like his coat." Lancer said. "He seems nice." He started to follow, because he knew it was in his best interest to do it. Lancer understood the caution everyone else was taking, but he also thought if they Gaster wanted to hurt them, he would've done it. Plus, Lancer's dad did just give him a soul, apparently. It'd be rude to attack people who did that.
He thought it best to leave the gathering of everyone to the adults. He was, after all, just a kid. He wanted to go find Susie. He was looking around for her, until it occurred to him that the Doctor has just vanished from thin air.
"Looking for someone?"
Or not. Lancer almost jumped out of his skin as the lanky skeleton approached once again.
"My friend. Susie. She got hurt by the thing."
"Susie?" Gaster looked confused, even tilted his head slightly. "I'm afraid I don't know who that is. I only really know people from the Dark World. Everyone else just seems the same to me."
"She's purple-"
Gaster snapped his fingers suddenly. "Oh, the one who had the axe. I saw her briefly yesterday." He smiled then, which was slightly less unsettling than the rest of him. He came across as someone who used to be really cheerful. "I think she's in there." He pointed to one of the bedrooms. Lancer vaguely remembered it being for the Hathy's. He went in, not bothering to knock first. He was aware of Gaster watching him, but when he turned around, he was walking away.
That must've been how Rouxls Kaard felt all the time. All eyes on him, constantly.
"Susie?"
Susie looked perfectly fine. She was playing a game of cards with a Hathy, and based on the disgusted look on her face, was losing.
"Bastard. Stop winning."
The Hathy blew a kiss, at which Susie's face reflectively scrunched up.
"Gross." Susie looked towards Lancer. "Hey!"
"Hi. Are you alright?"
"Never better." Susie smiled, "bit worried about Ralsei, though. The thing left just a couple minutes ago."
"Yeah, I think I know why." Lancer lay down on his stomach. He rested his head on his hands. "Susie, if you're feeling better, I can introduce you to him."
"Who?"
"This guy that crawled out of the fountain. He just appeared after my dad threw Kris's soul in there. He said his name was Gaster."
"Is he the reason why everyone out there's running around like headless chickens?"
"Actually, I think that's because a bunch of people just died or got really hurt."
"Yeah, good point."
