"Lancer? Thou looketh nervous." Rouxls sat down on the edge of Lancer's bed, where he was, indeed, freaking out.
"Yeah?" Lancer smiled, "it's nothing. You're going out tomorrow, right? To look for that thing with Dad, right?"
"Yes. At the moment we're looking for a third person to joineth us. Tried asking Seam, actually." Rouxls sighed, casting his eyes to the floor.
"What'd he say?" Lancer asked, even though he already knew the answer. He didn't think Seam would dare associate himself with the King, and, though he'd never met him, Lancer didn't see him as the type of person he'd get along with.
"He said no." Rouxls chuckled a bit. "Thine father refuseth to asketh the Doctor. Though it's our best chancest at the moment. He seems to knoweth what's going on more than we do."
"He's weird." Lancer said, looking to the door immediately afterwards. He never knew when someone could pop up and hear him. "Honestly, he kinda creeps me out."
"Likewise." Rouxls smiled, "but I suppose we'll have to deal with it." Rouxls pattes Lancer in the head and stood up to leave. "Try not to have a mental breakdown whilst I'm gone, okay?"
"Me? Mental breakdown? You don't know who you're talking to."
Rouxls simply laughed and started to leave. The King was waiting in the throne room. He seemed to have simply dragged along a Hathy and that was their fallback. At least they all knew who would be the one to run back to the castle if someone got injured. They had banned any of the younger ones going. Lancer, Susie and Ralsei were to stay in the castle at all times, at recommendation of Seam who pretended not to like them but did. Rouxls thought it was a great idea. Gaster apparently disagreed.
"Letting those kids out with us would be chaotic." Seam has said, slouching on the throne as the King was too busy trying to figure out what the death count was.
"What's wrong with a bit of chaos?" Gaster had replied, throwing a little blue ball up and down in his hands.
"Everything." Seam had replied, knowing that chaos was the last thing they wanted when everything was already going to, for lack of a better way of putting it, to shit.
"You'd know that from experience, wouldn't you?" Gaster's knowing little smirk just made Rouxls think he knew something he didn't. Seam had gone all quiet after that.
"Ready to leave?" The King snapped Rouxls out of his little flashback and into the real world again. He wished he could waste more time in the real world.
"Ready as I'll ever be." Rouxls sighed, not looking at anyone. Ralsei hurried past and waved goodbye to them. He was busy trying to be a healer and fix the injured and revive the dead.
They left the castle, stepping out and inhaling fresh air like it was a good drug. As far they knew, it could be the last time they ever tasted sweet oxygen. They had to savour it. They walked in silence, not even knowing what they were looking for. The Hathy kept flirting with the king as a joke (probably), but he just ignored it. They bickered whilst Rouxls fell silent, alert.
Truthfully, he was worried about everyone they had left behind. There was a chance You could attack whilst they were gone, and then nobody could defend them, except Seam, who would probably collapse under pressure, and Gaster, who they didn't know anything about. They would most likely all die on the spot, and it would be their fault.
"Did you see that?" The King froze suddenly, making the other two freeze and half freak out. Rouxls could've sworn he felt his heart skip a few beats. They all stared into the trees, waiting for whatever it was to show itself.
"Whose there?" The King challenged the unknown, which he had a bad habit of doing. "Show yourself!"
It did. Something blasted the King dead in the face, sending him skidding across the floor. The Hathy swore, before a spear came launching towards it and imposed it through the heart, pinning it to a tree. Little drips of black poured from the wound. It went still.
The King came limping back like an old man. A black and white, slightly transparent fish cans charging out of the shadows, a bright white glowing heart in her centre, clutching a white spear. She (or it, technically) lunged for the King, who parried the attack with his arm like an idiot. Better his arm than his face.
The King yelled something at Rouxls, but through the panic he barely caught it. All he heard was spear, Hathy, you, now. Using his intelligence, he assumed the King was asking him to use the spear that just killed the Hathy. He wrestled it out of the corpse, cringing a bit as it fell to the floor.
Huh. I just assumed Darkners turned to dust when they died. Guess I was wrong. Behind you, Undyne.
Multiple spears suddenly came launching towards Rouxls. In his panic, the only thing he could think to do was lift the spear in front of his face and hope. Somehow, this worked. One of them was reflected off the spear. With his lightning reflexes, he blocked or ducked under the rest of them. He could always heal if he got hit, so it wasn't a big deal, unless he was distracted. For all he knew, he could die in one hit. He wouldn't know, he'd never been hit before.
The King grabbed one of the spears out of the air and stabbed it through the fish's skull.
Oooohhh, I bet that hurt.
The soul cracked a little bit in the fish's chest. She didn't even flinch. She seemed tough, and though she was the enemy, Rouxls couldn't help but admire her. Or he would, as soon as she wasn't trying to kill him. She lifted a hand to the spear in her head and pulled it out. Now she was holding two spears, one she used as a shield against the King, finally deciding to attack, and the other she used as a weapon against Rouxls. One of them lightly skimmed his cheek, leaving a thin trail.
He thought he was doing a great job, until the spear snapped in half and he was left with two broken pieces in his hands. Caught of guard, he struck in the chest. This wasn't a spear, this was a bomb, which exploded on contact, sending him clean across the floor. Rouxls wanted a moment to slowly heal himself, one point by one, before picking himself off the floor.
"Fish is gone, replaced with long legged robot." The King said, observing for Rouxls, who didn't even dare look. "What do you want to do about that?"
Rouxls put his hand to a slowly healing wound. He pulled it back, saw it covered in blood. He still hadn't moved, he was healing a lot slower than he expected.
This is truly entertaining. I thought you were supposed to be powerful, your majesty. You don't hold a candle to Asgore. I do admire your will though.
Rouxls started to pick himself up, but the long legged robots soul suddenly melted away and the fish was back, leaving a spear in his back. Then, the robot returned.
Rouxls, I thought you could make your own rules. Then how come you can't speed up your healing process. Don't tell me-
You pretended to gasp in shock, grinning whilst the King continued to get beaten by the angry thot bot 2000.
-you're a lot weaker than I thought, aren't you?
"Thine majesty!" Rouxls yelled to the King. "We can't beat it."
"I know that, you swine. I'm trying to get an opportunity to leave. Can you get off the floor?"
He couldn't, because he needed the King to take the spear out of his back before he was killed. Rouxls realised he was too occupied in getting destroyed, so with one hand he held the spear down and with the other, he lifted himself up. It hurt like Hell, but he'd rather get hurt than die. Eventually, he managed to rip the spear out of him and impale it through the robots soul.
"We need to leave, thine majesty."
"This is the worst day of my life." The King muttered whilst they both sprinted away. You didn't follow. It doubted in the state they were they would get very far.
