Kris, in entirely black and white, looked like a completely different person. Their souls was bright red, and Susie barely even got time to react and think before a sword was headed straight for her face. If it wasn't for Lancer, blocking it with a spade, she probably would've been really hurt.

"Hey," Susie shouted at Jevil as she used her axe to block another blow, "can you help?"

"Not from out here, I can't." Jevil leaned on the bars, grinning. "I'd rather watch, anyway. This'll be entertaining."

Smile while you can. I'm not targeting you just because I'm not strong enough. You wait.

Whilst Susie was distracted by conversation, Kris struck her right in the abs with the sword, cutting right into her and throwing her against the bars of Jevil's cage. Jevil didn't even flinch as Susie slumped down, slightly dizzy.

Kris then got hit in the face by a heart. The striking colour of their blood leaked out from their left cheek. It was the only colour on them, and it was freaky. She twisted around and looked back at Jevil, who hadn't moved an inch.

"What? Can't I get a single hit for good luck?"

Susie got up suddenly, blocking a blow from Kris that was headed straight for Lancer's face. She struck back with her axe, but Kris blocked it. Lancer took this opportunity and got Kris in the ribs. Without thinking, he grabbed Susie by the wrist and pulled her past Kris and You, and ran up the stairs. They were both slightly out of breath by the time they slammed the elevator shut and started going up.

"We just left the clown on his own." Susie said, to exhausted and in pain to shout. She slowly slid down the elevator wall, trying to catch her breath. Lancer looked like a fresh piece of fruit, barely scratched, let alone bruised.

"Do you really think he'll have an issue with whatever that thing was?" Lancer said, "he wasn't my concern anyway. I saw you get hurt, so the only thing on my mind was getting us both safe."

Susie almost said thank you, but Lancer kept going.

"We should warn everyone in the castle. They may not believe us, but they all deserve to know. If they do believe us, we can hang back. Let the grown ups do the work."

"Just in the castle," Susie objected, sensing flaws in Lancer's plan. "What about Ralsei? And the shopkeeper guy. What's his name?"

"Seam?" Susie nodded. "Word will get to them eventually. Before that thing even realises they exist."

Susie had no idea Lancer was secretly a genius. She didn't know he could be so serious, but now he stood the corner of the elevator, with a frown on his face.

The elevator stopped and the door opened. Lancer held out a hand to help Susie up, but, despite the pain, she didn't want to come off as weak or in need of help, and pulled herself up, wincing as she did.

The place was in complete and utter chaos. Dead darkners were everywhere, along with the dying. Lancer went up to one of these near deaths and asked what was happening.

"This thing just appeared in a big ball of blue light, demanded to see the king or the duke. When they refused to be seen, it started to attack. It has a skeleton with it. It's kicking our asses, Your Highness, be careful fighting it."

Lancer looked back at Susie. "Take her out of here, make sure she's safe. Does Dad know what's happening?"

"Yeah, but he's-" she paused suddenly to cough up some black stuff. This black stuff gave her bad memories of what came out of the wounds Ralsei had during their journey, or what she had done to Lancer in a fit of blind rage.

Darkner blood.

"He's not doing anything about it." She took a deep breath, coughed up more blood. "I don't know why. The duke isn't anywhere to be seen. I think they're both at the fountain."

Lancer still fell through on his demands to take Susie to one of the bedrooms, which would now be used as a medical room, and make sure she was stable. A bone flew past his face as he said this, but another one never came, so he just watched Susie and the darkner leave and ran to the fountain.

"Dad, we need to do something about the current situation we're in." He yelled, panicking now that nobody was watching. "In which, everyone's getting thrashed out there!"

"I know, and I have no clue what to do." The King looked pissed. "This is the lightners faults, I know it."

Rouxls looked stressed as Hell. He still seemed tired, and scared. But he seemed more scared of the King flying off the handle and doing something drastic than of the demon killing everyone.

Is it?

You appeared in the doorway, bounding over, cheerfully. Lancer realises the noise had quietened.

Damned skeleton fell asleep, so I figured I'd come join you guys for a little chat.

"What are you?" The King asked, growling his words out like an animal.

My name is You, and I want the souls of strong lightners and darkners so I can live again.

"No." The King seemed to think that simply refusing would solve the problem.

Oh, you don't have a choice.

Kris came out again, dashing at the King, who panicked and ended up punching them dead in the face.

I have to say, this soul has really disappointed me. They're a lot weaker than I imagined. So far, I think that Asgore might be the strongest thing I have so far. He's very powerful. I'll be saving him for special occasions.

Whilst You rambled on, the King had managed to grab hold of Kris's soul. You's expression changed from deadening smile to a small frown as the King turned and, without thinking, threw the soul directly into the fountain.

There was a flash of blue light, and when Lancer turned, You was gone. The King noticed this as well.

"Huh. Coward. Things start turning in our favour, so it just runs away."

"Sire." Rouxls said, "pardoneth me for diverting thine attention from the issue." Rouxls was facing the fountain, which looked like it was forming a person out of pure darkness. "I thinketh thou just made everything worsest."
