"Bismillah ir Rahman ir Rahim," I say while waking up. First day of school and I am already sick of it. I am a smart student and a very different one too, but no matter what everyone is the same. I went in to the bathroom and washed my face and got ready for school.
I went down the stairs and into the kitchen while walking to my mom.
"Whoa, I see someone is ready for the school day!" My mom said while making my breakfast. I ate my waffles and ran strait out the door to my mom's car and off we went to my new school. My new school is like a few seconds away from my house, so we got there quick.
"Welcome to Lucky Middle School!" The principal said excitingly while shaking my hand. I was soo nervous, that I felt like throwing up right there on the spot.
"You must be Sakina Hashimi?" Dr. Hart said.
"Y-Yes," I mumbled like a whisper.
"Well here is your schedule and homeroom class," Dr. Hart said while handing me the paper. Hmmm. Mrs. Brooklyn is my homeroom teacher. Well I hope that the school's name really is true to the students who come here. Lucky The principal escorts me to my new class and I stand right there in front of the door. The principal opens the door and nudges me with a little push into the classroom. I heard a lot of giggles and whispers. What's that thing on her head? Wow she's pretty! Where did that monster come from?
"Ahh! Yes our new student!" Mrs. Brooklyn said while putting her hair into a ponytail. I could see from the start that she looked like a hot mess!! She was probably 37 and pretty but a mess.
"Everybody, this is our new student Sakina Hashimi! Please welcome her!" Mrs. Brooklyn said that was heartwarming. Mrs.Brooklyn placed me in the middle of two girls. Both were pure American. One had Blonde hair and blue eyes with curly tips at the end of her hair and her name was Ashley. The other had brown strait hair with freckles and dark green eyes.
"Hi!" I said while making eye contact. They just ignored me and I knew this was the perfect day....actually not. The first bell rang and off to my first period, Social Studies. The teacher was nice and heart warming whose name was Ms. Star and she was young and pretty. I went through math and took a pre-test and apparently I am an Accelerated student , well that's some just good news. It's now lunch time and I wonder how that's going to turn out. I opened up my lunchbox and smiled about what my mom packed for me, Chicken Biryani with some naan. Yummm.
"Hey new kid, where are you from? Are you from like India or something?" One of the girls asked.
"First it's Sakina and second just because I am wearing a hijab doesn't mean I am from India. I am actually from Virginia. Also don't judge people just because of their style of choice and religion." I snapped back.
"Whoa girl, now don't get feisty with me!" She replied back surprised that I could talk.
"Well, I am don't understand why you are confused because you asked me a question and I answered it for you, so I am not the one being feisty here."
I replied with some anger in my tone. Lunch was over and turned out to be a flop. I wonder if it's going to be like this for the rest of the year. I went back to class, academic three, science, and my teacher, Mrs. Salty, is like one of my favorite teacher so far. Now on to fourth period and I am outta here and into connections. Language Arts was perfect because you'll always find my nose in a book!! After the bell rings, I go to art class and sit down. There were about 36 students and they were actually pretty nice to me. As I looked around the room, people would pass by me and whisper loudly like I am deaf, but I could hear every breath and word they said and took. Look at her, what is that thing on her head? Does she have fake hair or something? She is so unfit to go to this school! I felt like just falling and never getting up again. Maybe it is just like this on the first days? And tomorrow this will be better. Art was fun and relaxing, but I was still so tired of the things my peers were saying to me. The bell rang and off I went to the last class of the day, PE. At PE, the coach gave me some dress codes and uniforms I have to wear. It was like all have to wear shorts and I just couldn't wait for another class to flunk. The last bell rang and I started walking home, all lonely. I couldn't wait for tomorrow.... Another day of Discrimination.
Salaam to my fellow readers! I just wanted to say if you have been to school and been discriminated, comment below. I am interested to see how this rude virus is spreading!
