I just walked home minding my own business while looking at all the houses on the street. I got to my house and I was worried and you know stuck in thought. I went inside and I saw mommy crying on the couch holding a picture of Laila. Why was she crying? Did Laila do something to her? I wanted to know fast.
"Salaam momma," I said in a whisper while walking next to her.
"W-walakium s-Salaam," she said while sniffling.
"What happened?" I asked with a solemn look on my face.
"L-Laila is-"
"Is what?" I asked with worry.
"Hospital," she said while a tear trickled down her cheek. I sat there in shock with nothing to say and my mind just went BLANK.
"Mommy, we need to go see her. Now!" I said while helping mommy stand.
"Yes, that is why I was waiting for you," she said in a sad voice.
"You know, you didn't have to wait for me. You could have gone to Laila," I said while getting in the car and off we went to Laila. I was just stuck in thought, but I didn't want to say anything or ask anything to mommy because she was already in stress and pressure. How could this happen? That is when mommy interrupted my bubble of thought.
"She was on her way to college and she got into a car accident. It was horrible. I got a phone call about what happened and they told me that she was stuck and bleeding really bad," She said in a light whisper while crying.
"Oh," I said with nothing in my mind. We parked the car and ran into the hospital. We stood in front of the lady at the front desk.
"Laila Hashimi," Mommy said in a hurry.
"Ah, yes, room number 356," she said while pointing in the direction to go in. We were running like the wind when we saw the room number and stood in front of the door. The door read #356. We went straight inside and I saw Laila lying on the bed. Her face had cuts and stitches and I walked towards her and kissed her on the forehead. She flinched. Did it hurt? I started to cry and my tears started to trickle down my cheek and onto Laila's. I didn't want anything to happen to her. I loved her.
Knock. Knock.
The doctor came in and looked at both my mom and I.
"You must be Fatima Hashimi and you must be Laila's mother," He said while looking straight at mommy.
Then he turned to me, "And you must be Sakina Hashimi, Laila's sister," He said. No offense, but that dude sounded creepy, like a stalker.
"Is she going to be okay?" Mommy asked in worry.
"Yes, but she has to get surgery," he said while looking at his clipboard.
"Why?" Mommy asked. It was like she wanted to know EVERY single detail there was. I just stared at the doctor
"Well, ma'am, she had broken her spinal cord," He said with a frown. Then I heard a loud THUMP.
"MOMMY! NOOO!"
