Chapter 19 - Advancements

Betty's pov!-

Me and Jughead hasn't been on good terms due to the black hood and it destroyed me, deeply. I knew I loved him and it was no joke but this was for his protection and he didn't even know that, I sent Archie becuase I wouldn't be able to break his heart. But while Archie was doing that and the blackhood has been killing people i was working on a secret project, one to find Lorna Jones or Jughead's sister. I was hoping I'd be able to find her before the end of the year or even the Christmas.

I didn't have a lot to go off of, my only clues were:
Ginger hair
Green eyes
Necklace
17 years old.

It could have been any girl in riverdale but I had noticed that after Jughead had told me about his sister and the story his dad told him, that one girl in specific fit the description. McKenzie McCall.

She always wore this black leather jacket, white beanie and this necklace, this necklace I had never seen off of her neck. This also fit with the rest of the description, she had Ginger hair and green eyes. A lot of the evidence was pointing to her but it was all too good to be true surely. Sherif Keller has been searching for years and never found her so what was the chance that the first girl I could think of was the right girl.

I knew I had to investigate further so I added Veronica to my investigation and told her everything I knew and she was completely in, although it meant a little deception but it wasn't too bad, me and Veronica made up a story and got her number from Kevin, this investigation was now active.

Veronica: Hey McKenzie!, it's Veronica Lodge. I have this test for Biology and since your in my biology and are super smart and a great friend I thought you could help me? I could come study at your house or even just get your notes?

We felt like that was as good excuse as any, Veronica was gonna use this time to get to know McKenzie and see what we could dig up and see if we could connect the dots, it's a long shot but it's the best we've got.

McKenzie: Hey Veronica, yeah you can have my notes; I have work though so studying will have to take a rain check, I'll get you my notes as soon as I can.

Veronica: can't I come over after work?

We started to worry that the plan would fail with that alone. The tension in the room thickened and I swear you could cut it with a knife, this would be the most perfect present for Jughead and his Father. They had missed her some much and I bet she missed them.

McKenzie: I'm working all night and into tomorrow morning sorry.

Veronica: Drop them off tomorrow?. I know it's a lot but I could really use those notes Kenzie.

McKenzie: yeah I'll drop em by tomorrow.

This plan was going to work and that made me feel so much better, I let out a sigh of relief and looked at Veronica. This had to work in some way, I begged for it too.

"What am I gonna ask her B? I can't just drop it on her like Hey you Jughead's sister?" Veronica asked clearly feeling nervous just like me but I had made a mental decision that she wouldn't ask that because a it was stupid and b it was way too obvious.

"No, of course not V, ask her questions about her childhood and the necklace definitely ask about the necklace"I said praying that this would work, Christmas was a few months away and I knew that I needed to get this sorted and out of the way if I wanted to get Jughead the perfect gift even if right now he hated me for what the blackhood had made me do.

Me and Archie had found a picture from my great grandad and planned on going there later on tonight investigating or  at some point to see if we could find anything but  The sugarman was my main goal now since the blackhood wanted him for whatever reason and we had hardly any time which is why this had to be done by Veronica. She was the only one that wasn't busy and after the break out at Archie's when he went to the southside, it sounded like she needed a break. She shot a gun for godsakes to stop a serpent bulldog fight, she deserved the less dangerous mission while me and Archie hopefully sorted out this blackhood business for good.

"Thanks for doing this for me V, I have something I really need to do which could take so much time that I can't even begin to imagine  how to explain the amount of time it will take" I said to her honestly, Cheryl had given me a small lead that I needed to look into before I could take any action. I knew this could be big and I need to deal with it so I was.

"No problem B, anything for my best friend" Veronica said while smiling at me, god she was a great friend for doing this while I go Drug lord hunting which wasn't how I wanted to spend my Sunday but it might work.

I smiled and we continued planning our questions for McKenzie and hoping that she was the girl we were looking for, I prayed she was becuase this would be perfect, my plan was great until Archie messaged me.

"Drag race tomorrow Me and Jughead Vs Ghoulies could really use your help on the car?" He asked me which was great but meant I have to go and sort out this sugarman business so quickly, I had the guys name but I need to get him in prison where the blackhood couldn't get him, why are these two starting drag races with a bunch of drugs dealers. I guess they head their bosses place is unstable and wanted to create tension in their ranks.

"Sorry V, I've got to go but you'll do great!" I yelled as I got off her bed and ran out the door, I had to get the sugarman to safety before I'd tell the blackhood and that was tonight's job before the drag race tomorrow which I very much wanted to help with.

Three missions all at once, Good luck to me
