They say that silence is deafening and I always thought that it was the most stupid saying of all time but now I was beginning to understand what that meant firsthand. The silence of the Council Room seemed to weigh down on us like a heavy blanket, making it hard to breathe. The second that I had walked into the room, all conversation had ceased and I casually sat at the head of the table in the Presidents seat. My actions probably shocked the council members into the silence that they were in now. It was evident that I had not an ounce of respect for them in this moment and it would stay that way.

"Get on with this meeting then." I snapped whilst inspecting my nails in a bored fashion. A shadow loomed above me and I looked up to see the agitated face of Manyuda Kaede. Kaede was one of the council members that I despised the most. Pretentious, calculating and an idiot. My three most hated qualities wrapped up into a disgusting little parcel by the name of Manyuda Kaede. Luckily, he felt the same way about me or otherwise I may have ripped my eyes out by now.

"I suggest moving away from me." The words softly rolled off of my tongue but there was a poisonous edge to them, warning him to come closer if he wanted to test me. Kaede, however, stood his ground, banging his fist angrily on the table in front of me.

"Get out of the Presidents seat. Now." He growled and I laughed in his face, not scared by him one bit. A lapdog would be more threatening than him. We stared each other down, hate brimming in our eyes. Just when I had considered if I could somehow strangle him and kill him off, an unexpected voice quipped in.

"Kaede, sit down. And Aiko, sitting at the head of the table is so tacky, even for you."My sister  said. I took one look at her face and got up from the seat, seeing something in her eyes that silently commanded me to. I moved to another empty seat which was adjacent to Kaede and opposite to Runa. The seats on both sides of me remained empty.

"Now we can start. Aiko, this meeting has been held to discuss you." Kaede started but I wasn't really listening, instead taking note of all of the absent people from the table.

"Where is Sayaka, Midari and Kirari?" I questioned and Kaede coughed before answering.

"They had their own business to attend to. The Vice President will relay any important information back to them." Kaede said whilst gesturing at the Vice President with one hand. Chills ran up my spine as I looked at the masked figure, with her icy white hair and smooth smile carved upon her mask. The Vice President was the most mysterious member of the council; she was faceless and nameless. There was something about her permanent smile that sent chills up my spine and made me feel as if I was drowning with no escape.

There was obviously a reason why the others weren't present at this meeting but I tried to push this aside and focus on what was going to happen.

"The President herself has requested that you become a member of the student council." Kaede said calmly and I felt my blood run cold.

"She wants me to join the council?" I timidly replied, the cogs whirling in my head. What in the hell is Kirari thinking? Placing me in the student council was possibly the worst idea that I had ever heard. I despised the council, almost openly, and it was clear that I hated the council structure and their rules. So why on earth would they pick me of all people.

"Yes. There's an empty space to fill and you've been nominated." Kaede replies slowly, as if I was struggling to understand his words. Silently, my mouth opened up wide and a deadly giggle seeped out, filling the room with a sweet sound. My laugh rose and rose in volume until it turned into a jarring bellow, turning my whole face red.

"Keep me out of your shit!" I screamed, standing up out of my chair so quickly that it crashed onto the ground, creating a crash that reverberated around the room. After all of the trauma that this stupid council put me through, Kirari really thought that I would join this circus of sadistic freaks. It was enough to send me into a frenzy.
