"What about this one?!" Iko exclaimed. She showed Peony a dress on her phone before quickly switching to another one. And another one. And another one.
"Iko, I already told you I want a pink dress."
"This has pink!"
"In the form of a gem on the belt."
Iko huffed.
"Guys!" Émilie said. "We should go dress shopping tonight!"
"Oh my stars, that would be so fun!" Peony said.
"Do we all have to come?" Scarlet mumbled.
Émilie rolled her eyes.
"Yes, Scar. You never know. You might see a certain special someone."
She nudged Scarlet playfully.
"I doubt it. He's not the kind of guy to go to school dances."
"Who is this 'certain special someone'?" Iko asked with an eyebrow raised.
"No one," Scarlet said.
"Nice try, Scar," Émilie said. "You already admitted he exists."
"A guy Scar actually gets along with?" Iko exclaimed. "It's a miracle!"
"You should ask him to the dance, Scar," Émilie said. "Show some initiative!"
"It's not like that. We barely know each other."
"Then you can get to know each other at the dance," Iko said.
"Okay, guys, I think we've teased Scarlet enough," Cinder butt in.
"Thank you," Scarlet said.
Just then, the bell signaling the end of lunch rang.
"Let's all meet up at the back entrance after school, okay?" Émilie said. A chorus of agreements followed.
With that, the crew disbanded until their reunion that night.

"Cinder, hurry up," Peony said. She and Iko were waiting for their sister to collect her belongings. Little did they know why their sister was running abnormally slow.
Suddenly, Peony felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to face Kai.
"Kai!" she exclaimed. "W-What are you doing her?"
"I wanted to talk to you."
Peony looked like she might faint. Iko stayed close just in case she had to catch her.
"Yes?" Peony said. Her voice squeaked at the end.
"I was wondering if you might want to go to the dance with me?" Kai said and scratched his neck. Cinder had seen him perform that tic enough times to know what it meant.
"Oh my stars, yes! Is that even a question?" Peony started jumping up and down with Iko. Both of them screamed their heads off with excitement.
Kai chuckled faintly and looked at the other sister standing behind him. Cinder smiled back at him. Peony's reaction reminded her why she agreed to help Kai in the first place.
"I'll, uh, see you at the dance. Bye." With that, Kai left the screaming teenagers behind.
"Cinder, did you see that?" Peony exclaimed.
"How couldn't I? I think the whole Bay Area heard you."
Peony didn't even acknowledge Cinder's statement. Nothing could bring her down from cloud nine.
