               Chapter 5

Sitting along the road side, I wait for the Kyron to finish his 'business' . My thoughts slowly drift back to the previous night when Vulpine told me I do have a father but she doesnt know who or where he is.

"Does something trouble you?" Vulpine asked, she faced ahead but her eyes were pointed at me.

"No, well I dont know... I guess im not sure what it is that is troubling me. I have just witnessed my loved ones perish, I am without knowledge of my mothers whereabout, I have a possible Dragon and a king who wants me dead, I'm not sure if I can handle....."

Chains rattled as Kyron emerged from behind a nearby tree, he shook his pants for a bit before smiling. I simply returned a glare, oh how I loathe him.

I got up and pulled at the chains. With him trailing behind me and Vulpine by my side, I made my way down the road toward the Village that is now closest to the kingdom.

"So why are you not speaking?" asked Kyron. I felt like I had been shot with a thousand cannons with that question. I abruptly stopped and spun on my heels.

I felt my face heat up in anger, my throat burned with the eagerness to scream. "How dare you ask why I am not speaking to YOU, You who murdered my family, destroyed my home, in order to kill me and make my life a living hell! You ask me why I am not speaking? well I will tell you!  It is because I utterly loathe you and can not wait till I find that god forsaken king of your to murder him for what he did to me and then I will fly high with you in my claws and drop you from the heavens and send you to your death!"

His eyes widened in horror. "And that is why I do not speak to you, because with your fate, it is almost pointless to talk to the dead." I harshly spat at him then turned back around. Vulpine stared at me but then diverted her attention back to the upcoming village. I did not regret what I said, but I could sense the unease coming from Kyron.

The chains dug into my wrists. Her words rung in my ear , I couldnt believe what type of death I would be having. But thats if she gets to the king,  which is highly unlikely considering he has a massive army and a dragon as an allie. She's real deep in the hole and just walking into a trap that will send her 6 feet under and with the king dancing on her grave.

I stare at her from behind, her long fire red hair swaying back and forth. I remember what she looked like when she cried for the death of her family. I have seen many people cry due to the murdering of my now dead comrads, but her cry was different,  it wasnt a cry of fear. She cried with a saddness that seemed lonely, but at the same time she looked like she had suddenly been left all alone, which I suppose she was. Remembering the blue tint in her eyes caused him to smile.

"Dont smile" she said with anger. I pulled my lips into a straight line, I wanted to tell her the truth of why she was targeted and why I did it, I didnt want her to hate me but I think we are way past that point.

The cake melted with every bite I took, this stuff was delicious. I reluctantly bought Kyron a peice of cake aswell, can't have him passing out on our walk. Vulpine happily lapped up some milk from her bowl.

A set of drums started playing in a catchy tune, I turned my head to see a man and woman dancing to the Dragon song.

Leila stared at the performance in awe, her eyes seemed captivated. The side of her mouth curled up in a little smile.

They danced with such gracefulness,  thats when I saw it. Their dragon tattoo on the back of their neck, I had aquired one on my wrist when I turned 16. Humans cannot see them but dragon's and hunter can. I instantly wanted to ask them questions, but as I stood up a loud shot ran through my ears. The dancers stopped midstep and crumpled down to their knees. I saw blood. Images of Grams and Grandpa ran through my head, my heart punded loudly and sweat started forming on my forehead.

I looked to my left and saw a man in a cloak pointing a black object with a barrel on one end, a dragon gun. My breathe became heavy as he turned slightly to walk away but looked directly at me. I quickly sat back down as he walked through the crowd, who was now screaming in fear.

When he was gone I ran to the 2 shot dragons. I kneeled between them and looked at the man who was now dead, then to the girl who was looking at me with bright green, teary eyes. "The king....he....wants us.....all..dead" she whispered.

I moved the hair from her face and chanted a soft song. "over the hill and through the valley, through the clouds above their head, dragons go on and on and on" She slowly smiled, and whispered a thank you.

I got off the ground and watched their bodies disappear. I walk back to Vulpine, her eyes filled with sorrow.

"It was the king who sent the hunter" I sighed.

"What are you going to do?" Vulpine asked.

I gave Kyron a look then glanced back to where the bodies were, but were now gone. "What I always planned on doing, but then im going to find that hunter."

Vulpine looked confused "why bother with the hunter, it's his job and you know they have been doing that for centuries?"

"He wasnt just a hunter" I sat down on the bench and looked at my hands, "he had a dragon tattoo on finger that gripped the trigger, he is a dragon."
