*Emma's POV*
I jumped out of bed when I heard knocks on my window. I could hear heavy rain and light sound of a car engine rumbling, it was a familiar sound so I suddenly became less nervous. I got up and slowly walked to the window, carefully pulling the curtains to peek out. Ethan.
I grabbed my jacket and slid on my shoes, my heels hanging out of the back but I didn't care. I was more concerned as to why my boy- I mean, I don't know what I mean exactly, was standing outside in the rain throwing rocks at my window. I swung the door open and rushed down the porch steps and into the rain. I covered my mouth after reaching Ethan. There was a darkness forming on the side of his face around and under his left eye, he had his hoodie on so I couldn't see it completely.
I could tell his eye was swollen shut and surprisingly his cheeks where freshly stained with tears. My poor baby, what has happened to you.
"Eth, what the hell." I slowly removed his hoodie to reveal the full bruise forming on his face, and tears were actually still streaming down, his hazel eyes puffy. It broke my heart. He had hurt me a lot, yes. But Ethan was really a good guy, whoever did this I wanted to run them over with a car.
"I-it's my fault, I'm so stupid," he said, dropping his head to his shoulders. I pulled him into me, he wrapped one arm around my waist and buried his face in my neck.
"You're not stupid, Ethan." I took him by his hand and we walked to the car, both getting in on opposite sides to get out of the rain. The hoodies we where wearing didn't help, we were both soaking wet.
I didn't say anything for a long while, I held Ethan's hand used my free hand to gently rub his bruised skin. He would occasionally pick my hand up and kiss it softly, which made my heart melt.
"E, you gonna tell me what happened? We said no more lies," I reminded him. He took his free hand and stopped mine from rubbing his face. He held both my hands now and lowered his head.
"I- I didn't know what else to do," he murmured. I furrowed my brows.
"What do you mean?" He began to sob.
"I didn't know what to do, neither did Gray. We-we have no money and I n-needed money, we needed money or we're gonna starve, and we'll be homeless, and I just didn't know what to do so I-" I tightened my grip on his hands.
"Slow down, love. Breathe. Just tell me what happened. I love you," I said honestly. I hated seeing Ethan this way.
"I- Tyler Anderson, he offered... no I asked... if I could have jobs to do for money," he started and looked up at me, his bottom lip quivering.
"What kind of jobs, Ethan?" I asked letting my breath fall out. He lowered his head again.
"Delivering, technically selling, drugs," he whispered. He shoulders shook. I inhaled deeply letting go of my grip on his hands.
"Ethan, there are so many better ways to get money. Why on Earth would you even consider doing this?" I wasn't trying to make anything worse I just couldn't understand. There were jobs he could've gotten at his age and shape.
"We n-needed it fast. Like I said, w-we didn't know what to do. But tonight, I'm never doing again," he said.
"What happened to your face Ethan? Who did this to you?" He explained the story of the delivery with Derrick and I clenched my eyes imagining a huge dude hitting Ethan in the face.
"That's what happened, and I didn't know where to go. I was so close and I panicked and you're the only person that makes me one-hundred percent okay," he explained. I nodded and half smiled at the sentence.
