28: Not My Plan

Me: thanks for your guys' help Gray!

I sent the text before turning to Emma, who was still in shock that we were sitting outside of this fancy restaurant. I got out and walked around to her side, opening the door. She stepped out and immediately hugged me.

"You seriously keep surprising me, I don't deserve this," she said. I shook my head and placed a quick kiss to her head.

"Of course you do, you deserve the world," I replied.

We walked inside and I told them my last name, the lady escorted us to a private room and Emma teared up seeing the decorations along with Gray and James sitting at a table inside of the room. We walked over and I pulled her chair out for her. She sat down and said thank you. The way the table was I sat beside Gray while her and James were beside each other on the other side. We spent the first few minuets talking and catching up on all things college and jobs.

The host took our menus up and said the waiter would be with us shortly.

"So, how was the lake?" James asked Emma.

"It was... fun until we got caught," everyone laughed.

"Sounds like your luck," Grayson said. I nodded.

"Yeah, it really does."

None of us really knew what to order since this was a fancy place and everyone had a certain budget so we couldn't get anything extremely expensive like most items on the menu. We all decided to try the least expensive thing on the menu at whopping $35.00, the "Chunk Beef Cheesburger"and I know what you're thinking, thirty-five for a burger? Yeah it's crazy but we were hungry and this was a double date. The money better be worth it.

"Excuse us, Emma come on," James motioned. They both got up and walked to the bathrooms. Gray and I looked at each other confused but shrugged.

"You know how they do, they can't go pee by theirselves in public," I laughed at Graysons remark.

"You're right," Grayson nodded and tossed a crumpled straw paper at me.

"Alright, everyone good on drinks? Sorry for the wait I just got in and-" the waiter turned towards me and my smile went away.

"Kian?" I asked and Grayson seemed confused.

"Oh, Ethan. It's you," he said unamused. I held my hands in the air.

"The one and only, look can we get a different server, you obviously have a thing out for me and I'm on a date," I said honestly.

"Sadly I can't, as much as I want to. I'm close to being fired and besides, there aren't any other waiters available at the moment," he explained. I sighed.

"Well then, our drinks could use a refill and when you get time, bring us our food," I said with a smirk. Grayson kicked me from under the table. I mouthed 'what' and covered my grin with my hand.

"It's one thing to mess my relationship with Emma up but to come deliberately to my work and harass me is another, I'm not having it. You can either show some respect or I'll have you removed from the premises!" Kian snapped. I crossed my arms and squinted my eyes.

"First off, I didn't come here deliberately. Second off, what relationship? She's my girlfriend and you're her friend, nothing else," I said back. "Plus, if you wanna get technical you started it at my work so now we're even," he rolled his eyes.

"I'll be back with your drinks," Kian walked off and Grayson shook his head.

He wanted an explanation so I told him. Even he agreed that Kian was a little weird. I didn't like Kian and think he knew it, that's why he felt the need to make it come off all on me. Well it wasn't gonna work and I certainly wasn't the only one that thought so.

"I can't believe he said I done this on purpose, this was not my plan," I told Grayson.

Just then, James and Emma returned to the table laughing, causing me and Gray to smile. I grabbed Emma's hand and she looked at our intertwined fingers with a smile before looking into my eyes and leaning over for a quick kiss across the table.

The sound of someone clearing their throat made us look up, Emma biting her lip and glancing at me seeing Kian in uniform. I shrugged.

"Here's your drinks," he sat Emma's down and then Grayson and James, when he went to put mine on the table it fell off into my lap, I shot up.

"You done that on purpose you dick," I snapped at him.

"Oh my, I'm so sorry! Such an accident I'm so clumsy! Let me get you some towels," he replied ignoring me.

"You better, considering you done it!" I shouted back. Emma watched with wide eyes as Grayson and James stayed quiet not wanting to but in.

"I did no such thing, it was an honest mistake! I would never do that, right Emma?" Emma shook her head.

"Kian... the thing is, I really can't say," she relied. Kian turned and walked out of the room.

Fuck now what am I going to do? I thought to myself as I sat back down.

My plan was being ruined all because of Kian. I wish Emma had never met the prick. He was obviously creepy and way to involved with Emma, even after barely knowing her. Kian returned and left the towels on the table and sat a new drink down in front of me.

He stayed gone for a while after that and everything settled back down. I was still heated but it was fine, the date was still going well. Emma coughed and then looked at James, biting her lip.

"James, come on," he nodded and they rushed to the bathrooms again. I was starting to get worried. They where in there like fifteen minutes ago.

Suddenly Kian returned with our burgers and Grayson decided to go ahead and start eating, they were taking a while in the bathroom. Eventually they returned and they were both quiet this time. They didn't even seem to notice the food.

Strange. They eventually stared to eat so I did too. I didn't wanna ask questions. I just wanted to enjoy my food and spend time with the people I love.

Kian must have left because he never came back to the table. I didn't care, we were fine without him.

I certainly didn't plan for the night to go how it had so far, but I guess it was getting better and as a matter a fact, it would get better but also my life was going to change for multiple reasons.

I didn't know it yet.
