Chapter 2 | The Start of Something Horrible
I suddenly wish I'm the Prime Minister of Bleanriths. I won't force anyone to just suddenly work on Earth filled with petty humans.
His face was etched with worry but suddenly replaced by relief when I smiled at him warmly.
I'm fine, I think?
I calmed myself down and I have an assurance that I can protect myself in this world. Ang simpleng bracelet ko lang na may golden spikes ay kaya kong gamitin, just in case.
"I'm fine," sabi ko sakanya bago pa niya ako matanong.
Cyran stared at me for a whole minute as if he's trying to read my mind again. I won't know if he's really hearing my thoughts right now, but I wish he won't peek into this brain again.
Raine flashed me a relieved smile when she noticed us, and I returned it with an awkward one.
We entered the elevator and Luke pushed the button for the highest floor.
He's so... talkative.
Luke knocked on a huge door that has a plaque that reads Chief Executive Officer. I heard a faint and calm voice that said, "Come in." Luke opened the door immediately.
The office is huge. It has enough space for a couch, a center table, and a television. Though there are many appliances, mas maraming room pa rin ang nasakop ng working area; with a huge table and tons of drawers and piles of papers around, mahahalatang sobrang busy ng taong nagmamay-ari ng office na 'to.
"The special ones," sabi ng lalaking naka-upo sa swivel chair bago siya ngumiti sa'min, flashing his perfectly aligned teeth.
I stared at him. He has fair white skin, oval-shaped face, messy and thick eyebrows, and something about him makes him so familiar to me.
"You guys are quite late." He stood up from his chair. "Have a seat."
Raine faced Lucius. "As you've read in their curriculum vitae, they're Cyrillus Andro Lacroix and Pauline Cynthia Zunino. These two are the best and the—"
Lucius crossed his arms and put his index finger on his lips when he talked. "And the brightest in your university. Yes. I was able to read the files you sent us, Miss Aguirre, but I'm curious." Lucius glanced at me and Cyran before proceeding. "How did you manage to place these students, with no experiences, in such high positions?"
