Chapter 4 | He's Not That Horrible

"That's too early for a lunch date."

He was sitting on the couch and reading something about telekinesis or something. I already miss Xavier, Hera and Sara. Sana okay lang sila sa first day of work nila.

I rolled my eyes at him. "That's not a lunch date, idiot."

I glared at him. "Wala akong paki kay Kleide. He's my ex."

Cyran gave off an insulting laugh. "I'm a telepathic, idiot."

The next day I got to work, I was greeted with dozens of eyes staring at me. My usual routine was to cower behind Cyran's back and lower my head to avoid their gazes but I did not do that. I touched my bracelet to ease the fear and replace it with power while I try to hold my head high.

Of course, hindi iyon madali. Almost a decade of trauma and hatred can't vanish that quickly.

I'm all talk, and no actions.

No way will I greet this annoying and pathetic human.

I almost got lost!

I honestly want to cage him in this elevator.

"Still trembling and can't even look back."

I glared at Warner but he just flashed his smile, showing that damn dimple again.

"May boses ka naman pala." He smiled annoyingly. "Or did you not see me back at the elevator, that's why you didn't greet your boss?"

Warner gave me lots of workload and did not let me go home until I finish everything off.

Well, that's probably kind of him because I was so sure I'm gonna get fired.

And besides, it would be my win and his loss.

I need to finish this job so I can graduate. And I need to graduate badly so my Mom can retire and enjoy life as it is. Masyado na siyang pinahirapan ng world na 'to. I want her to be stress-free.

That's the only thing that keeps me pushing through these past few days.

The next morning, I had no other choice but to greet my 'boss'.
