Species name: firefly inkling

Alternate names: sparkling inkling, enope inkling

Evolved from: firefly squid, otherwise known as the sparkling enope squid

At first glance, these inklings look like any other. Their build is standard, they grow to be about five feet tall, and there appear to be no drastic alterations to their tentacles. Despite this rather plain outward appearance. the firefly inkling has a special talent. Their tentacles are covered in small light-producing organs called photophores. They can control these on demand, allowing a part of all of their tentacles to glow whenever they want. In the dark, this gives the appearance of their tentacles being speckled with lights.

Firefly inklings can be very good at battling, but a vast majority of them also find work in the entertainment industry. With their expert control over their bioluminescence, they are often asked to perform in movies, stage plays, and music videos. Two of the best-known firefly inklings, Harmony and Melody  Larken, make liberal use of their glow during their performances onstage.
