Species name: market inkling

Alternate name: opalescent inkling

Evolved from: market squid, otherwise known as the opalescent squid

No species can rival the market inkling when it comes to color changing abilities. All inklings have the ability to change their basic tentacle color, but market inklings take it one step further. Not only can they change the color of their entire body, they also can imitate complex patterns. This gives the illusion of them completely vanishing into thin air. Of course, a keen eye can detect where they are standing still thanks to a slight warping of the appearance of whatever object they are standing in front of. Most seakind, however, do not pay that much attention, rendering the market inkling invisible. No ability is without a catch, however, and market inklings are no exception. The energy required to change the color and pattern displayed on their body is quite high, so there is a time limit as to how long it can be performed.

The following members of society are market inklings:

Sgt. Finn Quisling, a member of the first Squidbeak Splatoon during the Great Turf War.
