What am I going to do? thought Tatyana. I can't love someone. It's against the rules. If anyone finds out I'll be killed. Or worse, she will. Treacherous heart. Just had to fall in love didn't yo-.
Tatyana's thought were interrupted when Kyoko suddenly appeared in front of her.
"What are you doing in the Library Tatyana? It's the first day of the holidays and you're wasting away inside this stuffy place!"
"It's called wanting a quiet place to be in for a while. I wanted to do this thing called thinking, you should try it sometime."
"Yeh , Yeh. Let's go do something fun!"
Tatyana sighed.
"Like what Ky?"
Kyoko stopped for a second, seemingly deep in thought. And then her eyes started to gleam with mischief which Tatyana has learnt means she is about to be dragged into trouble.
"We could go to the kitchens. Steal some food and skip dinner."
"We'll get in so much trouble though!"
"Why don't you ask Natalya? She could give us a pass."
"That would be abuse of power. I'm in!"
Tatyana made her way to Natalya's living quarters, scolding herself internally for giving into Kyoko so easily. Kyoko herself, was behind Tatyana as they walked in silence to avoid be caught.
When the girls finally made it to their destination, Tatyana knocked on the door, secretly wishing her mentor wasn't there so she didn't experience Tatyana's weakness.
But of course, Natalya was there and she opened the door.
"Hello, what do you nee- oh hi Tatyana. How are you sweetie?"
"I'm good Nat. You?"
"Oh I'm fine. What did you need sweetie? Is it your scar again? I told you to apply the cream."
Kyoko quietly laughed making Natalya look over at her.
"Kyoko! Sorry I didn't realise you were here as well. Do you need something girls?"
"Yes actually. Kyoko wanted to know if we could get a pass for dinner and eat on our own instead. Could we? Please?"
"How could I say no to your cute little face, TT?"
"Aww." Kyoko exclaimed.
"Natalya! You're embarrassing me!"
"Sorry TT. Of course you can skip dinner. Just don't tell Ezra I let you."
"Thank you Natalya." Chorused the two teenagers.
"Oh before you go, Tatyana can I talk to you alone please?"
Tatyana looked at her friend, who nodded at her, before walking to her mentor.
"Yes Nat?"
"Don't tell Ezra that you love her. If you do, you will be punished. But other than that, you have my blessing."
How the fuck does she know? Thought Tatyana.
"We are not dating!"
"I know sweetie. Now go enjoy yourself."
"Bye Natalya."
"Bye TT!"
When Tatyana made it back to her black haired friend, she saw the smirk on Kyoko's face.
"What are you looking at?"
"Nothing, TT." Said Kyoko before snickering and running off.
"Oh that's how we're playing. Let's go then!"
Tatyana chases her friend around the half the building before finally making it to her dorm. Considering Tatyana is like Ezra and Natalya's child, she got her own room while everyone else had to share with two or three other girls.
Once in the room, the two dark haired girls fell onto the bed.
"It's so unfair that you get a room to yourself. It's favouritism."
"If I didn't have a room to myself we would be stuck in a dorm, possibly with other girls. Would you prefer that?"
"No." Said Kyoko before rolling on top of the smaller green eyed girl. Then she leaned in and whispered huskily in her ear,
"I want you all to myself."
Tatyana shuddered before laughing it off as the 18 year old on top of her was already doing.
"You must get all the ladies with that line." Mumbles Tatyana while working on getting her friend off her.
"What was that Tatyana?"
In her confusion and attempt; and failure, to stop laughing, Kyoko didn't notice the green eyed girl beneath her latch onto her waist with her legs and flip them over.
"Damn, you're pretty strong for a small girl!"
"I am not small!" Argued Tatyana, clearly annoyed.
"Yes you are." Kyoko argued back. "You are 5'4 and you're not muscular or anything. You're all soft edges and curves."
"Hey! You're not that muscular! You've got abs and you're arms are sculpted. Other than that you're curvy!"
"Yeh, but I, unlike you, have sharp curves. You've got supple curves, like your hips are smooth and stuff. You're small and cute."
"At least I don't look threatening. You're muscles and the fact that you are 6'0, which is unusually tall, make you look strong and scary. With me, they'll never see it coming."
Kyoko let out a sharp bark of laughter.
"Well you're right there. I didn't see it coming."
Tatyana slapped her friends arm jokingly, pretending to be annoyed.
"You should have. With Ezra constantly singing my praises."
"Yeh Yeh. I didn't even have classes with you until they changed the time table. Otherwise, you and me would have been friends much earlier. You seem like the kinda girl I would be friends with. You're my type."
"Your type." Questioned Tatyana, trying not to let her brain think of it in another, more romantic way than Ky meant.
"Yeh. Talking about types, what's your ideal partner like?"
"Why do you care? You trying to find me a partner?"
"I'm just curious."
"It doesn't matter. You can't be romantically involved with anyone here, remember."
"I know. But if we were allowed, what kind of person would you like?"
Realising that Kyoko wasn't giving up any time soon, Tatyana figures she may as well say it.
Making sure to stop herself from saying you to Kyoko, Tatyana started.
"Someone with a sense of humour, I'd get bored if they weren't funny. They would have to be not a total bitch but I don't want a pushover. Like nice to others but still mocking, sarcastic and mean if they need to be."
Tatyana halted, wondering if she was giving up too much information. Would Kyoko realise she was talking about her?
"Hey, TT! Are you going to carry on. I'm still curious!"
"Oh yeah. Of course. Uhh. Adventurous, maybe a bit troublesome. Smart and good at things I'm not."
Kyoko gasped dramatically.
"There are things you're not good at. I'm shook!"
"Haha! Very funny."
"I know. But seriously, what are you not good at? Name them." Demanded the Japanese girl.
"I'm bad at drawing. I'm pretty shit at creative writing, or just writing in general. My diy skills are basically nonexistent. And I'm not good with emotions."
"Not to be rude, but the last one was a given."
"That's fair."
They sat in comfortable silence for a while before Tatyana asked,
"What is your perfect partner like?"
"I'm glad that you asked."
"I have a feeling I'm going to regret doing so."
"Yep. Well they would have to be smart, obviously. Can't be dealing with stupid people. If they struggle with talking to others, that's kinda cute. Uhh."
Didn't she say that me being awkward when talking to people was cute?Tatyana questioned in her head, trying to not get her hopes up.
"Independent and strong. Fun. Good at maths, don't ask. Sarcastic. Dry humour. Can be nice or a complete bitch. Yeh, that's my kind of partner."
"They sound wonderful."
"You know, we're playing the pronoun game."
"The pronoun game?"
"It's where you use they/them pronouns instead of specifying their gender."
"Ahh, I get it."
Kyoko, once again, laughed at her friend.
"I'd think you were an idiot if you didn't mate. But let me get to the the point. What sexuality are you?"
Instantly, Tatyana started blushing.
"W-w-why would y-you want t-t-t-t-to know that?"
"Calm down Tatyana, I was just wondering."
Listening to Kyoko, Tatyana calmed herself. Totally not like Tatyana would jump off a cliff if Kyoko told her to though.
"If you m-must know, I'm only attracted to females. I believe that makes me a lesbian."
"There we go. No reason to freak out, you can trust me." Whispered Kyoko, while simultaneously stroking Tatyana's back gently. "Well it only seems fair I tell you mine now. I'm Pansexual. That means I like everyone regardless of gender."
"That's cool. Thanks for telling me that Ky."
"That's what friends are for. Exchanging secrets, having someone to trust and confine in."
Of course, that's all I'll ever be to her, Tatyana thought bitterly, a friend.
"Of course. And you're my best friend." Replied Tatyana.
In an ideal world, Kyoko would have said something along the lines of what if we were something more. But this isn't Tatyana's dream, this is reality.
"And you're mine TT. You're amazing!"
"Thank you Kyoko."
The two students laid on the bed together, in a sweet and calm silence. And the girl with hip length air has to pretend she didn't blush when Kyoko grabbed her hand and started to stroke it gently with her thumb.
Eventually, Kyoko stood up, pulling Tatyana with her.
"Dinner is in like 30 minutes. Let's go grab some food from the kitchens.
"Okay. I'm coming."
- -Time Skip- -
"You know, the food here is good and all, but it gets boring. Same thing all the time."
"What's food like on the outside?"
"It's good. The food in here is all healthy besides one or two things so we have a balanced diet but the food in the real world is not always like that."
"What? The food is high in calories and fat? Doesn't that harm people?"
"Oh yeh. It does harm some people's bodies. Most of them just think it makes them look bad but it doesn't."
"What kind of food do they make outside that we don't have?" Asked Tatyana, child-like wonder in her eyes.
"You ask a lot of questions when you're not silent! But I will answer cause you look so damn cute!"
"Hey!"
"Hush now little one. I'm going to teach you some things. They have food called burgers which is a piece of meat in between two bread buns. Then there is pizza which is dough that's made into a flat circle, or square of the place you get it from be like that, and it has tomato sauce, cheese and any kind of topping on it. Those were two of my favourites."
"I couldn't eat pizza then."
"You chose to be vegan TT. You don't have to be."
Tatyana rolled her eyes.
"I realise that. It's a healthier way of living."
"True. And it makes you look hot if you're anything to go by."
Tatyana blushed again. She had been doing that a lot today. But she blushed around Kyoko a lot in general.
"Aww. You're so adorable when you blush Tatyana."
"Shut up and eat your food Ky."
"If you haven't noticed I'm finished."
"Well so am I. What do you want to do now."
Perhaps if Tatyana had been a bit more focused, she would have heard the quiet mumble of the word you that came from Kyoko. But she was a bit distracted with trying to control the blood flow to her cheeks.
"I don't care. If you want, I'll tell you more about life outside of Khela."
And suddenly, the childish look of curiosity was back on Tatyana's face and glowing in her eyes.
"Tell me about Japan again."
"Okay. But in return, I want you to tell me some things."
"Sure. You know most things about me already. Now tell me about Japan.
Tatyana's voice became a hint whiny by the end of her sentence which made Kyoko giggle as she began to describe her home country to her more than interested friend.
"It's a beautiful country and where I lived was no exception. It was stunning, gorgeous. And when I went to the city, it was just as nice. I loved it there."
- -Time Skip Again- -
"Okay. Now that I've told you about Japan for the sixth time since I met you. I've got some questions for you."
"Ask away."
"What scar was Natalya talking about."
