_____________
You took another glance down at the jacket that Leon Kennedy let you borrow as you followed behind him, taking in his natural aroma. You had no idea where you were heading next, as your objective was to find some secret passageway out of the RPD. Just minutes ago, you were advice by Marvin Branagh to stick with Leon and that's what you were going to do. Marvin told the two of you to help and keep one another alive, since he felt that he would only slow Leon down because of his injury.
You brought up your hand and placed it against your arm for a short moment, reminiscing Leon's consideration when he bandaged the cuts below your shoulder. He had even given you his jacket to keep you warm. A light smirk tugged at the corner of your lips at his kindness. You still couldn't help but wonder why he did those things for you...
"Here. I'm gonna need that to open this."
Leon's words made you come to a stop and you looked at him quizzically, seeing his eyes locked onto your lower half. You glanced down at yourself to see the combat knife still strapped tightly at your waistline. You gripped the handle, slicking out the blade from it's holster. You held it out to Leon and to your surprise, he flinched slightly and put up a hand.
"Woah..." he breathed lightly.
"W- What?"
"That's not how you give someone a knife."
You tilted your head, glancing down at the way you presented the knife in front of you. The tip of the sharp blade was pointed straight at Leon's chest! Idiot! If he was a step closer, you would've stabbed him right in the heart! You quickly retracted your hand at the realization, lowering the combat knife that was between your fingers.
"S- Sorry! I wasn't thinking—"
Your heart jumped as Leon gripped your wrist, his fingers slowly unlocking yours that held the handle of the blade. He took the base of the knife in his hands, flipping it around so that the tip of the blade faced you, and then re-placed the handle in your grasp.
"This is how you give a knife to someone without accidentally stabbing them," Leon commented with a smirk. He pressed his gloved hands over yours so that your fingers were locked tightly around the base of the combat knife.
You nodded weakly, a light pink flushing your cheeks.
"I'll remember that for next time."
Leon Kennedy smiled once more before taking the blade from your hands. You placed your palm against your chest as he turned around, feeling your heart racing for some reason. Had it even skipped a beat at merely his touch? Why was that happening to you? You shook your head, brushing off those thoughts as you approached behind the officer.
"You and I are gonna have a look around," Leon said over his shoulder as he approached an electrical box that was located on the wall next to a gated doorway. "So always stay close behind me. Never leave my sight."
You watched as Leon brought up your knife, slicing through the yellow duck tape that held the box closed tightly. As he opened it, he gripped the lever that was on the inside and switched it down with all his might. A loud beep transpired in the air, the metal door rising seconds after.
Leon stepped back, approaching your side and your eyes met.
"If one of those things try to attack you, you do everything you can to defend yourself," Leon made clear, holding out your combat knife to return to you. "That's why you have this."
