ARACELI POV 🥀

"Araceli Gonzalez please come to the Main office." The intercom says interrupting the teacher, Mrs. Smith in the middle of her sentence about global warming.

I stand up slinging the black Nike backpack on my shoulder, picking up my phone I walkout the classroom feeling the eyes of my classmates on my back as I exit.

I move my hand to my pocket of my Nike windbreaker pulling out a piece of peppermint gum. I unwrap it and plop it into my mouth.

I open the door of the Main Office and walk inside seeing the smiling face of the blonde secretary.

"Hello Araceli, the principal would like to speak to you. Take a seat." She says I nod turning around, all the chairs are occupied except for one chair in the corner that is next to a girl with brown eyes and sleek black hair. I walk over and sit down on the chair and set my Nike backpack in front of my legs. I rest my elbow on the arm of the wood chair and pull out my I phone and play games till I hear the voice of the old principal.

"Araceli Gonzalez." The principal says. I stand up and sling the backpack over my shoulder once again. He smiles making me smile back. It's automatic for me to smile these days. Not because I'm feeling happy but it's so I can hide my pain. The only time I ever really smile is with my family or My best friend

"How's Volleyball going?" He Asks not going inside the office so I stand beside him.

"It's going well." I reply

"Good good. Well González can you do a favor for me?"

"Sure." I say he nods his head smiling

"Can you show these new students around today?" He says now looking at the Hispanic teenagers.

"Ok. Right now?" I ask he shakes his head.

"No no. After school. First I need to speak with you." he says checking his Apple watch that is tied around his wrist. He opens his office door and I walk inside and sit down on the comfy chair.

My eyes travel around the room stopping to read some of the anti-bullying posters and his diplomas.

He sits down in his chair making me now focus on his words.

"Well first thank you. These students come from East L.A. There school got shutdown because of some not appropriate things some students were doing. So we offered that they go to school here. It can help them. Only 6 of students who went to the shutdown school will be here." He stops his words so I can process everything I just nod my head so he can proceed.

"And as you Araceli are a great student I wanted you to show them around. You play a sport and are a straight A student I hope you can help them." He finishes.

"Okay, but there is one problem." I say sitting up in my chair

"And What is that?" He Asks

"I have volleyball practice after school. It's the last week of volleyball season so I have more practice for the last game. It's important because there are scouts." I say he nods his head slowly

"I'll tell your couch and you will have double practice tomorrow."

"Okay." I say. As we both stand up the last bell of the day rings.
