After another hour of eating and conversation, we had finished dinner, the plates flying off and disappearing. Headmaster Stormcraft stepped up to the stage again and we looked up.

"Hello again. Just one more reminder that you must get your robes during the two day break. But in other news, You all must head back to your dorms. A teacher will wait for you to bring you to the dorms. You will likely receive some mail with your schedule but if you don't, you will receive it the next day. Tours of the academy are all day tomorrow, so you may meet in the courtyard at 11:00 sharp. Please relax and enjoy yourselves. OH! And mail from your family will be sent to your dorms so please check every morning! Thank you!" Headmaster Stormcraft said. Then, very suddenly, he looked at me right in the eyes and I suddenly remembered that I needed to see him after dinner.

Everyone then started to get up and walk to the entrance. I sat in my seat.

"Uh... Sam? Are you coming?" Alex asked worriedly, waving a hand in front of my face. I snapped out of my trance.

"Uh... yeah. I'll meet you guys at the dorms. Get a bed for me!" I said, waving them off. At first, Blaine and Alex were hesitant, but then the stumbled off with the group. I waited until most people had left and then walked up to Headmaster Stormcraft who was waiting next to the Kraken table. As I walked over, he looked up.

"Good evening. You must be Samantha Galdur. As you might know, I have something to discuss with you." He said, gesturing for me to have a seat in front of him.

"Uh...Hi," I replied awkwardly, unsure of what to say.

"So. About your powers. I hear that your siblings have powers yet you don't. You know, this reminds me of your parents. They had no powers either but I saw something in them so I let them attend the academy. It might have been the best or worst choice I have ever made." Headmaster Stormcraft explained, his eyes staring off into the distance.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm afraid their disappearance might have been related to that spark I saw in them. I think it might have something to do with the gargoyles that live in these woods."

"Gargoyles?"

"Yes. In these woods live all kind of monsters. It will teach you self defence and won't bring you much harm since they are quite weak. But enough of that, we're getting off course. I have something for you." He opened his thick cloak and pulled out a dark, worn out, leather book, "It's your mother's from when she was in the academy. All students from Year 3 and above are required to have one. I haven't opened it yet but I thought you could get some inspiration from her since she was very good at the subjects, especially charms though she would never show her spirit animal to anyone, your dad included. She was quite a mischievous one, that Amanda. She was the best student I had ever had." Headmaster Stormcraft said, handing me the book. It was a lot heavier than I had thought. Headmaster Stormcraft must have noticed because he said, "It has over 1000 pages in it."

"T-Thank you, Headmaster Stormcraft." I said with a slight bow, clutching the book in my arms.

"No worries my dear. Oh, and do call me professor. Headmaster is such a, strong word. I have sent a messenger bird to all your teachers and you do not need to participate in anything magic of the sorts. Just do as much as you can, and please, don't mind Xavier. I've known him since he was a baby. He had been through a lot you know. Well, off you go. You have a big day tomorrow." professor Stormcraft said. He stood up and linked his arm through mine. He started walking out of the dining hall and was walking really fast. Oh boy, I thought.

Professor Stormcraft had walked out of the dining hall and made his way down twisting and turning hallways. The hallways weren't nearly as nice as the main hallway, with stone floors and dimly lit torches on the cobblestone walls. Wooden doors lined each side of the hallway, some decorated some plain.
