"SAM!" A voice screamed in my ear, "Wake up! We're going to be late! AGAIN!"
Fast forward 3 minutes later, I had one sleeve in my coat, an envelope clenched against my teeth, my satchel half slung across my back as I try to cram my feet into my boots. "Sam!" Blaine called from outside.
"Coming!" I yelled, rushing out the door. It was 7:30. We had 30 minutes to get to breakfast get our robes from the village. We forgot to get them yesterday!
As I ran out the door, a white, snowy owl swooped down through the window, almost crushed my head, dropped an envelope on the ground in front of me, and flew back out the window. I picked it, brushing the snow off of it. "Sami" was written on the front with what looked like a green crayon. I smiled, knowing exactly who it was.
"SAM!" Blaine called, waving me over from down the staircase.
"Just a minute!" I yelled, gently opening the envelope. Inside was a piece of papyrus with words scribbled on it with a green crayon. It read:
"Hiiii Sami,
Todai i fond a for lif klofer i hop u r duing stoof an dat u mad frenz
(Translation: Hi Sam,
Today, I found a four leaf clover. I hope you are doing many things and that you made new friends.)
Luv Benji"
I better write him a letter back in my free time, I thought.. "SAM!" Alex screamed, making a few people strolling down the stairs nearby look at her.
I rushed over, following them to the cafeteria. Once inside, everyone was hurrying to finish their meal and rushing off to their classes. I grabbed a fig bar from one of the many baskets at the Phoenix table and an apple for later, stuffing it into my satchel. Before I could grab anything else, Blaine was dragging me out of the cafeteria. I was dragged to the stack of paper planes near the edge of the mountain within 10 minutes.
"Quick!" Blaine called from atop a paper plane. How did she get up there so fast?
As soon as I touched the stack to grab a red paper, one wiggled way out from the middle of the stack. It folded itself into a small paper plant and started circling around my head. I managed to grab the plane's wing but instead of stopping, it pulled me to the edge of the cliff. I tried to walk backward and stop myself from falling but the plane decided it was time to fly. It dragged me off to the edge, still in its tiny form, and flew me to the base of the mountain. I was barely holding on as thousands of feet below me jagged rocks lay threateningly. The whole way there, I was screaming my head off as my stomach dropped.
"Kúkalabbi!" I screamed, trying to hold on to the tiny tail. As my plane neared the base, It screeched to a stop, launching me off of it. I fell back first onto the ground in a muckleberry bush, the juice staining and ruining my beautiful beige coat. "Come back here you... Argh!!!" I yelled, chasing after the plane who had flown off into the village.
"Sam! Wait!" Blaine called, running after me. The plane swerved around lamp posts and benches gracefully whereas I smacked into them, bruising my head. I was too mad to care. The chase through the town continued for about 20 minutes. I knocked over 2 carts full of apples, tripped over a woman walking her pink Poddle, making the dog chase after me. I was rounding a corner when I almost crashed into a man pulling a cart full of colorful fabrics.
"Watch it!" He yelled, shaking his fist at me.
"Sorry!" I yelled, regaining balance. Suddenly, the plane skidded to the stop, making me fall forward.
