Amanda
"Amanda, wake up sweetie."
I groaned and turned my back on my mother. Yesterday was the worst. I went to the mall with Daniel instead of Isabella and she does not like Daniel at the moment. Every time a guy would walk pass me, he would growl at them and then glare at me. Sometimes he can be a real pain. Oh, who am I kidding, he's always a real pain. I finally decided to get up as I realized that Mom wasn't gonna leave until I did.
"A caterer is coming to help us finish the quinceara. She's also bringing some of the world's best dresses!" Mom squealed. I couldn't help but smile at her. I've never seen her this excited about something before. Was she like this when it was almost time for her quinceanera or was she much more happier? I dressed in a green and pink strapless crop top, pink skirt and green Chuck Taylor's. I straightened my hair and put a hump on the top of my head. I walked down the stairs and our family room-we have a living room and a family room, but our family room is only for special occasions-has two big white couches, one on each side of the room. The end of the room was cleared out for the presentation. Mom lead me over to a couch and sat me in the middle. Mom was standing next to the couch, bouncing on the balls of her feet. She really was excited about this and so was I, but my excitement was on the inside.
"Our guests and caterer should be here any moment," she informed me. "I hear they're bringing a server for us too."
I crossed my legs at the ankles and intertwined my fingers together, placing them on my lap. Dad walked out of the kitchen just as the doorbell rung. In walked Dylan and Cole with what I'm guessing is their dad and someone else, but they were hiding their face so I couldn't see. He rushed past the family room and Mom followed him. That must be the server.
"Yes, you can find the food and drinks here. Make sure to refill the drinks pronto this could take a while," I heard her say as the twins and thier dad walked into the family room.
"Hey Amanda," Dylan greeted, waving. I waved back with a smile.
"This is our dad," Cole said, gesturing to the man.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Mathew," I said, getting up to shake his hand.
He got down on one knee and grabbed my hand. "Please call me Lucas," he corrected, kissing the back of my hand.
Dylan and Cole rolled their eyes while I heard someone gag in the background. "Well nice to meet you...Lucas."
I sat back down while they took their seats on the couch opposite of me. Mom came back and sat on the other side of me.
"We just want to thank you guys for offering this help to us," Mom said.
"No problem," Lucas replied. "It's the least we can do since Amanda invited my sons to her party. I heard you were up until 4 in the morning doing the invitations by yourself."
He seemed very impressed by that and I smiled proudly.
"Where's Jonathan?" I asked. "I invited him too. He's your son as well."
Lucas' smile dropped. "He's not really important right now. What's important is getting you ready for the biggest night of your life, right?" he replied, trying to change the subject and Mom nodded in agreement.
"I'm gonna go get a glass of water," I said, getting up.
Cole jumped up and ran to block the door. "That's the server's job," he said, "Let him get it. Waiter!"
"No that's fine," I assured him, gently pushing him out of my way. "I'll get it myself. I am a big girl after all."
I went into the kitchen and the server's back was to me. "Hi," I greeted making him jump. "Oh my gosh," I stated, covering my mouth. "I am so sorry."
"No, it's fine," he quickly assured, turning around, but a silver platter was covering his face.
I laughed at him. He's really shy. He started to back up as I moved forward.
"It's okay. I don't bite," I said teasingly.
He still backed up and didn't stop until he hit the counter. I walked closer to him and grabbed the platter. I tried to pull it down, but he was stronger then me and you'd think I'd just be touching it and not pulling. I used both hands this time.
"Come on," I insisted. "I'm friendly, I promise." I finally managed to take the platter away and gasped. "Jonathan?"
He gave me a sheepish smile as I grinned. I gave him a hug. "I can't believe your here," I admitted, then I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. "So you're coming to my party?" he sighed. "It's the biggest night of my life," I pointed out. "I need you there."
He scoffed, shaking his head. "I don't know," he said, stuffing his hands inside his pockets. "Like I said before, no promises."
I nodded again. The doorbell rung and seconds later I heard the door open. "Amanda, the caterer is here!" Mom called out.
"You should probably get out there," he suggested.
"I don't wanna leave-"
"I'll be fine," he interrupted and went back to his work.
I stared at his back for a few moments before returning to the family room where a woman with blond hair and deep green eyes greeted me with a handshake.
"Hi I'm Brittany," she said, "You must be Amanda," I nodded. "Let's begin."It took two hours but I finally had everything done. I was so excited, but the reason it took so long was because every time Jonathan came out, I kept staring at him and smiling. Mom had to snap me out of my daydream every time and every time the corners of Jonathan's mouth twitched a little making me blush. I thought right then and there that everyone was gonna know I liked him, but Mom insisted it was because I was nervous and I mentally thanked her.
"Well we should get going," Lucas said, standing up as Brittany gathered all of her things.
"Oh, okay," I replied. "Thank you so much Brittany."
She smiled at me. "No problem. But I wanna see pictures, you hear me?" She pointed at me and gave me a playful warning look.
I giggled and nodded. I was the last to leave the family room. I got up off the couch and stood in the doorway just before Jonathan walked by.
"Bye Jonathan," I whispered, brushing my hand against his.
He stopped and looked at me making me smile a little bigger. "I hope you can make it to my party. It'll be really fun if you're there."
Him being so tall I had to stand on my tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek. He looked at little shocked, but there was something else in his eyes. Happiness? Hope? Whatever it was, I liked it.
"JON!" Lucas shouted making us both jump. "Get out here now!"
Jonathan sighed and ran his hands over his face. "See you around," he mumbled, jogging out the door.
I was kinda hoping he would kiss me back, but you can't have everything you want. I touched my lips. His cheek felt warm and rough. I wonder if his lips feel that way too; I'll probably never find out.
