I finished with half the room by the time 7:30 came around. I bet you if Brittany came to live here, Lucas woudn't be such a slob. The doorbell rung and I sighed. The boys went to the party half an hour ago and Lucas was long gone on his date. I got off my hands and knees and took my gloves off. I jogged down the stairs and groaned as I opened the door.
"Kyle, what are you doing here?" I asked, rubbing my temples.
He was holding three bags. One looked like a shopping bag while the others I knew without a shadow of a doubt were our tuxedos.
"Kyle, I'm not going to the party," I said and he scoffed.
"The hell you aren't, you're going." He shoved the shopping bag at me and I looked inside as he pushed past me and closed the door.
There were two black masks inside. We really were going. I followed him upstairs as he walked into my bedroom and set the tuxedos on my bed.
"Kyle, I can't. I still haven't cleaned Lucas' room," I pointed out.
"What if I helped you?" he asked and I frowned at him.
"I don't know-"
"Nonsense," he interrupted, gesturing at the door. "Lead the way."We finished with the rest of Lucas' room half an hour later. I never knew Kyle could clean and fast too. We put on the tuxedos and masks and examained ourselves in the mirrors.
"Who's gonna get that dance from Amanda now?" Kyle questioned with a smile.
"Daniel," I said bluntly, readjusting my mask.
He punched me in the shoulder. "No, idiot, you," he corrected.
"Whatever," I mumbled.
"Let's go," he said, walking out.
"I'll be right there," I called out before going over to my bed and grabbing the invitation.
I slipped it into my poclet and followed Kyle down the stairs and out the door where we hopped into his car and drove off to the party. We arrived about twenty minutes later and it was a good thing I brought the invitation or we would've never made it. We walked in and even though it was just a hallway, I was still amazed. Marble was everywhere and there was a huge chandelier at the entrance.
"Man, the Ramirezs know where to throw a party," Kyle muttered, looking around in awe like I was.
Mr. Ramirez walked up to us and I was about to hide my face, but then realized that I was wearing a mask. He doesn't know who I am, he just knows that I go to his daughter's school.
"Hello gentlemen," he greeted. "Glad you could make it."
"Thanks for having us," Kyle replied cooly while I just smiled.
"Right this way," he gestured for us to follow and we did.
We walked down a hall and at the very end was a door that was covered from top to bottom with one big picture of Amanda. This time she was wearing a gray and white long sleeve crop top, a yellow skirt, gray Chuck Taylor's, and a yello bandana wrapped around her head with her hair in curls. Mr. Ramirez opened the door for us and gestured for us to go inside.
"Amanda will be out in 10 minutes," he informed us and we nodded before walking inside.
Both Kyle and I's jaws dropped down to the floor. The room looked amazing and HUGE. 10 minutes. All I had to do was wait 10 minutes and I would get to see Amanda. I wanted to sit at a table closest to the main table at the end of the room where Amanda would sit, but all those seats were filled. Kyle and I took seats closest to the door so that we would be the first ones to see Amanda.
"Drinks?" a waiter asked, holding out a silver platter of what looked like punch to us.
"Is this real silver?" Kyle asked, examining the silvereare, completely ignoring the waiter's question.
The waiter smiled before nodding. "Yes that's real silver, just like that's real gold on the rim of those plates," he answered and Kyle's jaw dropped even more.
I shook my head and took two cups for Kyle and I and the waiter muttered a goodbye, going to the next table. I set one glass in front of Kyle, but he was too into the untensils to notice. I started bouncing my leg, anxious to see Amanda. I just hope Dylan and Cole don't figure out who I am.A little while later, two men walked in with trumpets in their hands. They played the tune that you do when royalty is about to walk into the room. Me being so close to them it felt like my eardrums popped.
"Here she comes," Kyle mumbled, nudging my shoulder.
"Please welcome the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Ramirez!" one of them shouted as everyone clapped.
Amanda's parents walked in and everyone oohed at Mrs. Ramirez, everyone except me. She looked nice, but Amanda would look beautiful. Her parents went to the main table and sat on each end of the table. Their seats were a little lower than the one in the middle.
"Now!" the other man shouted, "please welcome, being accompanied by Isabella Rodriguez, the woman of the hour, your quinceanera princess, Amanda Ramirez!"
Everyone stood up and cheered including me and Kyle and Amanda and Isabella walked in the room. My eyes grew wide as I stared at Amanda. She looked like a princess. I could tell she was looking for someone, maybe me but I doubt it, as she made her way across the dance floor to the main table. Isabella sat in the last available seat next to the main table. Amanda went to her seat, but did not sit down.
"You may sit," she said and I could tell she was excited and nervous. "Thank you all for coming out tonight, it means so much that you came." as she was talking, she was looking around, trying to find someone. "And I want you guys to just have a good time. Our waiters will now bring out dinner."
