Through The Dark

Chapter 1

So , it's been a while since I had a break from my job. And now I'm  heading for the time of my life.

I stepped out my front door and locked it up.
I'm gonna be a normal person for a month. Investigations aside and vacation on.
I walk down the steps of the front porch and got to my car . It looked so new with all the holiday mood ...though it was more than 5 years old . My eyes sparkled with the thought of giving my paperwork room a leave.
Fireworks burst inside of me and I  sprung the door of my car wide open..........

Riiiinnnnngggg.....! Damnit , it's my phone......a call from my boss.
"Meghan, we have a special meeting immediately. Report to the office NOW!!", My boss yelled as I almost dropped my phone.

My heart shattered to a million little pieces while I  loaded off all the luggage for the holidays , outta the car .
As I  got in my car, I felt that my car had become old again and I  started driving with the same old grumpy noise .

I  pulled over in the parking lot of my company .  
      I entered the air conditioned room and went straight to the elevator. Leaning on the metal side of the lift, I started thinking of the plans I had been making for my big holiday which was now shattered and totally gone.
          Any urgent meeting from my  boss would mean a big task was ahead.
         I heard the familiar halt sound of the lift and got out.
          To my surprise, there was not many people there but  only three of my colleagues.
           I sat on one of the empty chairs and took out my phone.
    It was 12:00 at noon already .
I let out a deep sigh and wondered what exactly the meeting would be about.
        My colleagues too were confused on this sudden meeting.
      I heard the clicking sound of the door opening and in stepped my boss . He looked terrific with his hair all upstraight like Einstein.
             He went to the front and turned on the projector.   
            The screen displayed photos of several people with dates mentioned below them.
           I quickly understood it was going to be another crime investigation.

My boss cleared his throat and started explaining the details of the person on the screen.
     As expected they were the victims of a murder, and the dates below were the day they were killed.
" I wouldn't have called you if this was any ordinary crime task.......but this is something serious. People you are now seeing on the screen have been killed in a very pathetic way.......by anonymous. 
          The one who killed them was very careful not to leave any kind of suspicious clues at the crime scene.
           That maybe the reason this case is going on for about six months now and the local police hadn't had the slightest clue of the culprit. "
       My boss paused and took a sip of water before adding, " and that's why you four have been assigned to do this job....I want you four to be in disguise this entire time and not give the murderer the tiniest clue that could reveal your original self . Your gonna have to act like a normal human being doing a normal job.
Oh, and I almost forgot ....your gonna be  carrying a job in a big financial company until this comes to an end. The company would have nothing to do with your mission. We have particularly chosen the four of you as you four have topped the annual preliminary exams of our company. I'm expecting you to do your best in this task. You know, the killer is on loose and he has a record for killing 53 people in a single month."
     " Whaaat? 53 IN A SINGLE  MONTH?"
             "Have I made myself clear?"
      We nodded.
    " Then,  your flight to Tokyo will be booked tonight. You'll be leaving right  the next day."
      Tokyo? Wow....that's the place I  planned to leave for my holidays. Anyway I'll be going there , not for any fun, but for some run. Damn it!!
