56. Successful/ Broken?

I look at you after what feels like eons,

Standing tall and proud.

“He's the most successful man”

I hear people say with envy

"Do you know him?"

One of my friends ask,

How do I tell them that,

He once upon a time loved me..?

He was my man..?

He's the reason I'm the way I'm today..?

He's the most beautiful part of me..?

He will forever be my beloved..?

So I simply take the easy way,

I shook my head no as the answer.

And as I was leaving towards the exit,

You call out my name.

Our eyes meet and I know, for sure,

Your not only a successful man,

But also a broken lonely man..

Your eyes scream sorry.

But sometimes it's just too late..

I couldn't see you like this.

So I just give a fake smile

And walk out, leaving you in that crowd,

You chose, even if it meant our separation..

Even if it meant “no more US”..
