It was raining heavily when he walked home that day. He had forgotten to bring an umbrella earlier.''Stupid'' he scolded himself.
Well to be fair, no one was there to remind him.
He suddenly heard water splashing and fast approaching footsteps behind him. It was Nagisa, running with an umbrella.
"Dude, don't you have an umbrella? You're gonna catch a cold if you walk home like that."
"My immune system is strong."
"Cold and Flu viruses are strong too!"
"I'm stronger than them."
"Just get under the umbrella."
"Yeah. Whatever you say." He smiled and stood under the umbrella, albeit akwardly. He was 4 inches taller than Nagisa. He eventually grabbed the handle from him.
"You're too small. I'll just act as a knight-in-shining-armor and hold this umbrella for the princess." He smirked.
Nagisa glared at him, then snorted.
"Rude."
Every day, for the past 10 years of his life, he had always been alone. It's weird to have someone fuss over him with something so trivial.
Nagisa was his first friend. He was always there for him. Like when he forgot to pack lunch, he gave him some onigiri. When he forgot his homework, Nagisa would let him copy his. When he fell off the school balcony on the second floor, Nagisa was the one who forced him to go to the school clinic, even though he insisted that he was fine.
After three months of being friends, they grew closer to each other and somehow, Karma opened up a little.
--------------This line break is brought to you by Poison Specs-----------------
He breathed heavily, and unevenly. He had just beaten up some random goon in the dark alley. Dude was trying to steal his wallet. When he got up from his position, he heard laughter, followed by loud claps.
"Well, what do we have here?" The man stepped out from the shadows and grinned.
"What do you want?" Karma spat.
"Feisty brat. I like you. Wanna join our group?"
"...What group?"
"I'm pretty sure you know what a gang is, don't you?" He chuckled.
"Come join Tsukihira group. With your skills, I'm pretty sure that you'll rise to the top."
Karma pondered for a moment. Well, it's just some random gang. No one would really care if he joined or not. His parents wouldn't even notice. It's a great way to pass time before going home, he told himself. It wouldn't hurt to try new things.... right?
"Sure."
-------------
Nagisa had noticed something different with his friend. He was skipping school more often now. He also doesn't pay much attention to class. He would always go somewhere after school, and they walked home together less often now.
'What's going on with him?'
He worried about Karma's wellbeing. That's what friends are for right? He sighed and looked at the redhead seated in front of him, dozing off.
"Hey, Karma" he shook his friend's shoulder
"Mhhmm.. what?"
"School is over. Want to walk home together?"
"Hmm.. sure." Karma got up and yawned.
------
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask for a while... but.. is there something wrong?"
"Hm? What do you mean?" He lazily glanced at Nagisa.
"I mean, you've been skipping school quite a lot now..."
"Nothing's wrong. I just wanted to have some time off. Besides, my grades aren't failing."
Nagisa just nodded and offered a small smile. He knew something was definitely wrong with Karma. Why would he skip school so much? Is he really that lazy? But his grades are amazing!
"Just so you know, I'm right here. You can tell me anything..."
Karma didn't reply for a while, but he mumbled an "ok" before laughing.
"Ohh~ Nagisa-kun is sooo dramatic~ Such a good friend~"
Nagisa smiled a little. If he wasn't ready to tell him yet, it's ok. They've only been friends for three months afterall....
