After the evenings events, Tauriel was called from watch to an enlightening dinner in celebration of their achievement. She had spent the night nodding graciously without paying attention. Her mind meanwhile, churned with thoughts; what where those blasted dwarfs doing in our land. During the last waking hours of that day, all she could do was let her mind wander and when she finally fell into a fitful sleep it was encompassed with nightmares.

Tauriel saw terrible things, things that made her wake nauseated and terrified enough to place a knife under her pillow in case of the lurking danger she had foreseen. After what felt like hours she fell back to sleep only to be overwhelmed by more lucid visions until she woke up screaming, someone was shaking her awake. Legolas. "Tauriel! What is it?" he said looking at her with his lips pressed into a concerned line. She shook him off, hoping he couldn't see the hilt of the dagger beside her pillow. "Nothing, just a dream." she said while scanning the room. "Do you need me to stay with you?" he replied.

"I should be-"

"Tauriel?"

"Yes. Stay." She sighed.

With that he sat down in the plush sofa chair beside the window and stared out thoughtfully.

If only he knew. She thought. If only he knew.
